A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE EL SEGUNDO SUPERVISORY AND
PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEE ASSOCATION (SPEA), DECERTIFYING
CALIFORNIA TEAMSTERS, PUBLIC, PROFESSIONAL AND MEDICAL
UNION, LOCAL 911 (LOCAL 911) AS EXCLUSIVE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE
SUPERVISORY AND PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEES BARGAINING UNIT and,
APPLYING THE LOCAL 911 MOU to SPEA
The City Council of the City of EI Segundo does hereby resolve as follows:
Section 1: The City has adopted Resolution 3208 which establishes a process and procedure in
compliance with the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations and the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act (MMBA)
regarding bargaining representative recognition and bargaining representative decertification.
Section 2: SPEA has complied with the applicable provisions of Section 3 part a through k of
Resolution 3208 regarding their petition for recognition as the Exclusive Representation of the
Supervisory and Professional employees, following a vote of affected employees, voting 21-0 in favor
of SPEA as Exclusive Representative of the Unit.
Section 3: SPEA has complied with the applicable provisions of Section 7 inclusive of Sections 3
through 10 of Resolution 3208, for its petition for decertification of California Teamsters, Public,
Professional and Medical Union, Local 911(Local 911). Local 911 is therefore hereby decertified
following a vote of affected employees, voting 20-1 in favor of decertification
Section 4: The City, having entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Local 911,
hereby applies the Local 911 MOU to SPEA for the balance of its term, pending negotiations of a
successor MOU.
Section 5: The City Clerk is directed to certify the adoption of this Resolution; record this Resolution
in the book of the City's original resolutions, and make a minute of this adoption of the Resolution in
the City Council's records and minutes of this meeting.
Section 6: Alternatively discuss and take other action related to this item.
Section 7: This Resolution will become effective immediately upon adoption.
