RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
1) Appoint two (2) members of the business community and two (2) members of the
residential community to a subcommittee to consider the impact of reduced water allocations
by the MWD; 2) Alternatively, discuss and take other action related to this issue.
BACKGROUND & DISCUSSION:
On October 16, 2007, the City Council took action to appoint Mayor Pro Tern Busch and
myself to a subcommittee charged with making recommendations to the City Council
related to the MWD's recent announcement that future water allocations to cities may be
reduced by up to 1/3 of current allocations. I requested at that time that we discuss the
other four appointments to the committee (two each from residential and business
communities) at the City Council meeting scheduled for November 7, 2007. Accordingly,
am recommending that the City Council appoint Rod Spackman from Chevron and Chris
Bennett from Good Stuff from the business community and Robin Funk and Mike Murphy
from the residential community to the subcommittee.
