Scope of Work
Diesel Retrofit Product and Installation Requirements
Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) are to be installed on 17 Metropolitan vehicles at multiple
yard location after 3:00 p.m. or on weekends, as needed. All transportation changes to be
paid by the Bidder, Vehicle list is attached.
DPF must meet or exceed CARB requirement of Level 3 -- 85% reduction in Particulate
Matter and /or 25% NoX reduction as needed.
DPF substrate must be of a Cordierite or Silicon Carbide material with a stainless steel
body and end caps with quick coupling clamps.
Bidder must be able to supply Passive DPF or Electrically Regenerating Active DPF as
required by the specific application.
An early warning backpressure monitor alert shall be provided on each unit.
Product shall carry CARB verification and meet warranty standards for five years or
150,000 miles.
Bidder to provide equipment data testing as needed in order to ensure installation of the
appropriate device based on vehicle operating temperature.
Bidder must have optional substrate cleaning service contract available with on site DPF
cleaning and ash disposal service. Although the cleaning service is not included in this bid
please provide your price schedule for on site cleaning for information only.
Bidder must have optional on line GARB record keeping service available.
Bidder must provide CARE required heat proof, waterproof compliance labels for vehicle
door jam, in addition to manufacturer's product tags.
Bidder must have training video available regarding installation, operation and maintenance
procedures of DPF unit.
Bidder to use certified, factory trained technicians for installation of DPF systems.
Bidder shall be able to provide technical assistance on an "as needed" basis after
installation for an unlimited amount of time.
Successful Bidder must be able to perform necessary testing and installation of appropriate
device on six (6) of the listed vehicles prior to June 30, 2007. The remainder of the work
can be performed after that date.
