Subject: El Segundo City attorney ruling on improper agenda of October 18, 2001 —
"SPECIAL JOINT MEETING OF THE EL SEGUNDO CITY COUNCIL
AND RECREATION AND PARKS COMMISSION"
Under the Ralph M Brown Act, (§ 54954.2) it states "Care must be taken to adequately and fully
describe on each agenda the nature of each item of business to be transacted or discussed.
However, the description generally need not exceed 20 words." The agenda description of the
above mentioned joint City Council and Recreation and Parks meeting does not "adequately and
fully describe " ..: 'the nature of each item of business to be transacted or discussed." The posted
agenda merely says "Projects and Programs of mutual concern." What are these mutual projects
and programs of mutual concern? How can the public give input if they do not know what
projects and programs are involved?
Pursuant to the California Public Records Act I request a hard copy of the ruling by El Segundo's
City attorney on the adequacy of the above polqf d agenda.
