DEFINITION
Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of general routine clerical and secretarial work, performs
a variety of duties related to the water utility billing function,

The Water/Wastewater Operations Technician is a single position classification
An incumbents in this class works under general
supervision and within a framework of established procedures Adequate performance at this level requires
a knowledge of departmental procedures and precedents, and the ability to choose among alternatives in
solving problems The incumbent in this class will have contact with the public, answering a variety of
procedural questions, or giving out factual information
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following
1 Types a variety of documents in draft and final form, such as correspondence, standard forms, charts,
and reports using standard electric typewriter and /or word processing equipment, types from written,
recorded, or printed sources and /or oral instructions, proofreads materials for correct grammar,
spelling, and punctuation
2 Orders supplies and equipment, contacts vendors for price quotes, estimates, and availability of
equipment, repairs and supplies, prepares, validates, processes, and /or checks a variety of
documents and records, such as time- sheets, confirms requisitions, and public notices for
completeness, accuracy, and submission standards, compiles and records fiscal and statistical data
according to established procedures, may keep petty cash
3 Reconciles expenditures with appropriate accounts and invoices, tracks expenditures and monitors
accounts, may assist in division budget preparation
4 Receives the public /work unit clients and answers calls, determines how incoming calls should be
routed, prioritizes service requests and routes appropriately, operates and monitors divisions two -way
radio communication system, directs people to appropriate offices, answers routine questions,
explains routine procedures, processes, or departmental activities
