Approximately three months ago, the City's Directorof Finance and Director of Public Works determined thatthe needs
of both of their department's could potentially best be met by 1) modifying the work assigned the position and
eliminating the equipment operation, water /wastewatersamplmg and inventory control functions, 2) moving the water
utility billing function from the Finance Department to the Public Works Department Water Plant and 3) temporarily re-
assigning a permanent status employee from the Finance Department to perform the new mix of clerical and
secretarial support and water utility billing functions
Following a two -month trial period, management staff in both the Finance Department and Public works Department
have concluded that the above described mix of duties and responsibilities is viable and should continue
The revised class specification reflects the new mix of duties and responsibilities to be assigned to the incumbent in
the position The proposed salary range is Range 35 ($2552 - $3103 /month), an increase of approximately 12% from
the range originally assigned to the lob classification The proposed salary range is at the same level as the related
lob classification of Accounting Technician, and reflects the position's responsibility related to the Water Utility Billing
function Approval of the class specification and adoption of the Resolution is required so that the Human Resources
Department can initiate the recruitment, testing and selection process necessary to fill the position on a permanent
basis
The class specification has been reviewed by the City Employees' Association
