A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ORDERING
THE VACATION OF A CERTAIN PORTION OF
COAST BOULEVARD, WITHIN SAID CITY, AS
CONTEMPLATED BY RESOLUTION OF INTENTION

The City Council of the City of,El Segundo, Cali-
fornia, pursuant to the provisions of the "Street Vacation
Act of 1941 ", being Part 3 of Division 9 of the Streets and
Highways Code of the State of California, does hereby resolve.,
declare, find, determine and'order as follows:
SECTION 1. Said City Council, after public hearing
duly and regularly called, noticed and held, finds and de-
termines from all the evidence submitted, that that portion
of Coast Boulevard within said City described in Resolution
of Intention No. 1353 of said City Council, adopted by said
City Council on the 23rd day of September, 1953, is unneces-
sary for present or prospective public street purposes.
SECTION 2. That the public interest and convenience
require, and it is hereby ordered that the following portion
of the following public street within the said City, to wit:
That portion of Coast Boulevard, a part of which is
designated as Coast Boulevard in that certain deed,
dated October 20, 1916, and recorded in Book 63$$,
page 49, of Deeds, in the office of the County Re-
corder of Los Angeles County, California, a part of
which is shown as The Strand on a map of Tract No.
3303, recorded in Book 36, page 14, of Maps, in the
office of the County Recorder of said County, and a
part of which is shown as Lot 37 on a map of Tract
No. 2356, recorded in Book 2$, pages 41 and 42 of
Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said
County, which extends from the hereinafter described
Line A. Northwesterly and Northerly to the herein-
after described Line B. to wit:

Beginning at the Southwest corner of Lot 2 of
Tract No. 1314, as per map recorded in Book 20,
Page 161, of Maps, in the office of the County Re-
corder of said County of Los Angeles; thence East,
along the Southerly line of said Lot 2, a distance
of 355.27 feet; thence South 230 13+ 00" East,
1238.83 feet, more or less, to the intersection of
a line which is parallel with and 600.00 feet North-
westerly, measured at right angles, from the North-
westerly line of 45th Street, as shown on a map of

in the office of the Count Recorder of said County;
thence continuing South 23 131 00" East, a distance
of 185.71 feet to the beginning of a curve concave

Beginning at the Southwest corner of said above
mentioned Lot 2 of Tract No. 1314; thence East, along
the Southerly line of said Lot 2, a distance of 355.27
feet; thence North 230 13+ 00" West, 164.95 feet to
the beginning of a curve concave to the West, tangent
to said last mentioned course, and having a radius of
765.00 feet; thence Northerly along said curve, 367.40
feet; thence North 500 44' 00" West, 116.26 feet, more
or less, to a line having a bearing of North 660 47'
00" East, and which intersects the Northeasterly line
of Lot 1 of said Tract No. 1314, at a point distant
North 230 13' 00" West, 460.00 feet, measured along
said Northeasterly line from the Southeast corner of
said Lot 1; thence continuing North 500 44' 00" West,
a distance of 133.74 feet to the beginning of a curve
concave to the East, tangent to said last mentioned
course, and having a radius of 835.00 feet; thence
Northerly along said curve, 56.67 feet, more or less,
to a point in the Northeasterly line of that certain
strip of land, 60 feet wide, described in the deed
dated October 20, 1916, from Standard Oil Company to

Intention No. 1353 of the City Council of the City of E1 Se-
gundo, California, adopted.by said City Council on the 23rd
day of September, 1953.
Reference is hereby made to said Resolution of In-
tention No. 1353 and to the-map or plan entitled, "MAP SHOW-
ING PORTION OF COAST BOULEVARD PROPOSED TO BE VACATED UNDER
RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 1353 AND THE RELOCATION THEREOF. ",
referred to therein, both of which are on file and open to
public inspection in the office of the City Clerk in the City
Hall of said City, in said City, and both of which, by this
reference, are incorporated herein and made a part hereof
for further particulars, said portion of said Coast Boulevard
so vacated being shown in yellow color upon said map.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the
same in the book of original resolutions of said City; shall
make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the re-
cords and proceedings of the City Council of said City in the
minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted;
and shall cause a certified copy thereof, attested by the City
Clerk under the seal of said City, to be recorded in the of-
fice of the County Recorder of the County of Los Angeles,
State of California.
Passed, approved and adopted this 12'th day of
December, 1953.

OF A PORTION OF A STREET, PORTIONS OF
WHICH ARE DESIGNATED AS COAST BOULEVARD,
AS HIGHLAND AVENUE, AND AS THE STRAND,
LYING WITHIN THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO IN A
NORTHERLY AND SOUTHERLY DIRECTION AND
ADJACENT TO THE PACIFIC OCEAN

STATE OF CALIFORNIA:
The petition of Southern California Edison Company, a
corporation, respectfully shows:
That said petitioner is a corporation duly organized and
existing under and by virtue of the laws of the State of Califor-
nia, with its principal place of business in the City of Los
Angeles, County of Los Angeles, State of California, and is
engaged in the business of generating, transmitting and distribut-
ing electric energy in the central and southern portions of the
State of California as a public utility;
That said petitioner respectfully petitions your
Honorable Body to vacate and abandon a portion of that certain
street, commonly known as Coast Boulevard, a part of which is
designated as Coast Boulevard in that certain deed, dated
October 20, 1916, and recorded in Book 6388, page 49, of Deeds,
in the office of the County Recorder of said County of Los
Angeles, a part of which is shown as The Strand on a map of Tract
No. 3303 recorded in Book 36, page 14, of Maps, in the office of
the County Recorder of said County, and a part of which is shown
as Lot 37 on a map of Tract No. 2356 recorded in Book 28, pages
41 and 42, of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said
County, the portion of said street petitioned to be abandoned and

That said portions of Coast Boulevard should be
vacated and abandoned for the following reasons:
(a) Your petitioner has entered or will shortly enter
into certain agreements with Standard Oil Company of California to
purchase a site for a steam electric generating station as shown
in the map attached hereto, and pursuant to said agreements said
Standard Oil Company of California, has or will have, prior to
the date when said Coast Boulevard can be vacated, fee ownership
of the underlying fee in all of said above described portion of
said street; that pursuant to said agreements Standard Oil Com-
pany of California will convey all its right, title and interest
therein lying within the proposed site to your petitioner for its
use as a steam electric generating station site;
(b) Without the use of the portion of said street
lying within the steam station site the proposed use of said
site by your petitioner as a steam electric generating station
will have to be abandoned;
(c) In consideration of the vacation and abandonment
said above described portion of Coast Boulevard, your petitioner
will undertake to grant to the City of El Segundo, without cost
to said city, a public street easement seventy (70) feet wide on
and over that certain real property in said City of E1 Segundo
to be acquired from Standard Oil Company of California by your
petitioner in fee as shown in red on said map attached hereto,
which real property is more particularly described as follows:

Standard Oil Company of California has undertaken or will under-
take to convey directly to the City of E1 Segundo easements for
public street purposes connecting those portions of said Coast
Boulevard lying within the steam station site with portions of
Coast Boulevard as the same are presently located; the loca-
tion of which connecting portions are shown in green on said
map attached hereto, designated Parcels G -2, G -3, G -4 and
G -5 therein, and are more particularly described as follows:

(e) In further consideration of the vacation and
abandonment of said above described portion of Coast Boulevard,
your petitioner will further undertake to construct a roadway
over said easements for public street purposes and to the extent
deemed necessary to relocate or arrange for the relocation of any
existing underground facilities affecting said street in its
present or in its relocated position, all without any expense
to the City of El Segundo and in accordance with the specifica-
tions of said City for streets of the same class;
(f) In consideration of the vacation and abandonment
of the above described street, your petitioner will further under
take that the public use thereof in its present location will not
be interfered with in any way unless and until the dedication of
said new public street to public use shall have been accepted by
your Honorable Body; and
(g) Upon the opening of said new public street for
public use, said above described portions of Coast Boulevard will
no longer be required for public use.
WHEREFORE, your petitioner respectfully prays that
your Honorable Body take such action as may be necessary for the
vacation and abandonment of said above described portion of Coast
Boulevard in the manner provided by law. �,�
