ROAD EASEMENT
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY, a corporation,
organized under the laws of the State of California, and having
its principal place of business in the City of Los Angeles in
said State, hereinafter called "Grantor ", does hereby grant to
the CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, a municipal corporation, hereinafter
called "Grantee ", an easement for public road and highway purpos
in, on, over and across that certain real property in the City
of E1 Segundo, County of Los Angeles, State of California,
described as follows:
The Northerly 5 feet of the Westerly 13$.08 feet
of Lot 7, Block 112, of E1 Segundo, Sheet 5, as per map
recorded in Book 20, pages 114 and 115, of Maps, and
also being a portion of Lot 31, as shown on Map No. 8
of property of Southern California Edison Company Ltd.,
recorded in Book 3, pages 1 to 7 inclusive, of Official
Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said
County.
To be known as Maple Avenue.
The aforesaid easement is granted subject to all ease-
ments, rights, leases, licenses and encumbrances, whether of
record or not, affecting the above described real property or any
portion thereof, and subject also to the right of said Grantor,
its successors and assigns, to construct, maintain, use, operate,
alter, add to, repair, replace, reconstruct and /or remove in, on,
over, under, through, along and across the above described real
property, electric transmission and distribution lines and tele-
phone lines, together with supporting structures and appurte-
nances, for conveying electric energy for light, heat, power and
telephone purposes, and pipe lines and appurtenances, for the
transportation of oil, petroleum, gas, water or other substances;
and said easement for public road and highway purposes shall be 5
exercised as not to interfere with the construction, maintenance
use, operation, presence, repair, replacement, relocation, recoz

or telephone lines or pipe lines, and the said Grantee, by the
acceptance of this instrument,:agrees to hold harmless and indem-
nify said Grantor, its successors and assigns, from and against
all damage to such electric transmission, distribution and tele-
phone lines and supporting structures and appurtenances and pipe

lines and appurtenances, by reason of the construction, reconstruc-
tion and /or maintenance of said public road or highway, and to
pay to said Grantor, its successors or assigns, upon demand, any
and all costs of relocation and /or reconstruction of such electric
transmission, distribution and telephone lines and supporting
structures and pipe lines which may be or become necessary by
reason of the construction, reconstruction and /or maintenance of
said public road or highway.
Said Grantor reserves for itself, its successors and
assigns, the right to trim any tree or trees which may grow in
said public road or highway, and which in the opinion of said
Grantor, its successors or assigns, endanger or interfere with
the proper operation or maintenance of said electric transmission,
distribution and telephone lines, to the extent necessary to pre-
vent any such interference or danger.
The above described property is to be used for public
road and highway purposes only, and in the event said land is not
used for public road and highway purposes, or if the project for
the construction of said public road or highway is abandoned, or
in the event said land shall hereafter be vacated as a public road
or highway, it shall thereupon, ipso facto, revert to said
its successors or assigns.
The rights hereby granted are not necessary or useful
in the performance of the duties of said Grantor to the public.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused

% SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AT ITS ADJOURNED
REGULAR MEETING, SEPTEMBER 79 1955.
"RESOLVED, that a copy of that certain Road Easement,
dated the 24th day of August, 1955, executed by Southern Cali-
fornia Edison Company to the City of E1 Segundo, conveying a certain
portion of Lot 31, as said lot is shown on Map No. 8 of property
of Southern California Edison Company Ltd., for public road and
highway purposes, be placed on file in the office of the City Clerk
for identification and reference; that the City Council hereby ap-
proves said document and authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk of the
City of E1 Segundo to execute same on behalf of the City of El
Segundo, and the City Clerk is hereby further authorized to deliver
a copy so executed to the Southern California Edison Company; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that that certain Road Easement,
hereinabove referred to, granting to the City of El Segundo an
easement for public road and highway purposes over and across that
certain real property in the City of El Segundo, County of Los Angeles,
State of California, described as follows:
The Northerly 5 feet of the Westerly 138.08 feet
of Lot 7, Block 112, of El Segundo, Sheet 5, as
per map recorded in Book 20, pages 114 and 115, of
Maps, and also being a portion of Lot 31, as shown
on Map No. 8 of property of Southern California
Edison Company Ltd., recorded in Book 3, pages 1
to 7 inclusive, of Official Maps, in the office of
the County Recorder of said County.,
be and the same is hereby accepted for public street purposes in
connection with the widening of Maple Avenue, in said City; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk be and she is
hereby authorized and directed to cause said instrument to be filed
for record in the office of the County Recorder of Los Angeles County,
California."
