Memorandum of Understanding
This Memorandum of Understanding is between the City of El Segundo and the El Segundo Unified
School District for the sole purpose of providing extra City life guarding staff necessary to facilitate
the new time schedule request for ESHS aquatic programs.
The new hours and seasons listed below are scheduled to begin in September 2005 and reflect the
agreement which was reached between the Recreation and Parks Department and ESHS staff for
use by the high school aquatic program.
Fall and Winter Season: 1:00 — 4:45 p.m. Monday thru Friday
Spring Season: 1:00 — 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday
Summer Season: 7:00 — 9:00 a.m. Monday thru Friday
Please note it is imperative that this timeline is strictly followed.
For these services, ESUSD agrees to pay the City of El Segundo an annual amount of two
thousand ($2,000) dollars to offset the additional staffing costs. The ESUSD will be invoiced by
the City, for payment in full due no later than September 30, 2005.
Life guarding staff will remain City employees and the City will have the sole responsibility and
control over their scope of employment. Nothing in this MOU obligates the City to continue
staffing services beyond the City's 2005 — 2006 fiscal year.
