AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EL SEGUNDO AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE
CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EL SEGUNDO AND THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION
OF THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT
SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the Public Employees' Retirement Law permits the parti-
cipation of public agencies and their employees in the Public Employees'
Retirement System by the execution of a contract, and sets forth the
procedure by which said public agencies may elect to subject them-
selves and their employees to amendments to said Law; and
WHEREAS, one of the steps in the procedures to amend this con-
tract is the adoption by the governing body of the public agency of
a resolution giving notice of its intention to approve an amendment
to said contract, which resolution shall contain a summary of the
change proposed in said contract; and
WHEREAS, the members of the E1 Segundo Police Officers Associ-
ation have been provided 2% @ 50 since 1978 and on February 2, 1982,
a two -tier provision was approved whereby all sworn police hired
subsequent to this date would be placed under the 2% at 55 plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, by its action on September 4, 1990
approved the elimination of the two -tier system to provide 2% @ 50
Full formula for local police members only, to be effective
June 27, 1992.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. To provide 2% @ 50 Full formula for local police
members only, including an extension of the funding period to the
year 2011.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk is directed to certify the adoption
of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published or posted
in the manner prescribed by law.
