ORDINANCE 1102ORDINANCE NO. 1102 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 3.12, (TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX) OF THE EL SEGUNDO MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING SECTION 3.12.075 RELATING TO A CAP OF FIVE PERCENT ON TAX REMITTANCE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Chapter 3.12, Transient Occupancy Tax, is hereby amended to add the following section 3.12.075: 3.12.075. FIVE PERCENT CAP ON TAX REMITTANCE. Tax returns made to the tax administrator under section 3.12.070 may not be reduced more than five percent for the rental of rooms to persons (other than individuals) who do not meet the definition of "transient" as contained in section 3.12.020; provided that hotels which reduced their returns more than five percent for rental of rooms to such persons between July 1, 1986 and June 30, 1987 may continue such reductions in tax returns, not to exceed the average of all reductions made during the period July 1, 1986 to June 30, 1987. All other provisions of Chapter 3.12 shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 2. This ordinance shall become effective at midnight on the thirtieth day from and after the date of the final passage and adoption thereof. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance; shall cause the same to be entered in the book of original ordinances of said city; shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted; and shall within fifteen days after the passage and adoption thereof, cause the same to be published once in the E1 Segundo Herald, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated within said City of E1 Segundo and which is hereby designated for that purpose.
