ORDINANCE 107557'51 ORDINANCE NO. 1075 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING TITLE 5 (BUSINESS REGULATIONS AND LICENSING) OF THE EL SEGUNDO MUNICIPAL CODE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Subsection (a) only of Section 5.08.020, "Businesses Generally ", of Chapter 5.08 (Business License Schedule) of Title 5 (Business Regulations and Licensing) of the El Segundo Municipal Code, is hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows: "(a) A basic fee of fifty dollars per year, which shall cover the first ten employees, and sixty dollars per year for each employee in excess of ten employees; and, ". SECTION 2. Subsection (b) only of Section 5.08.195, "Chemical, Petroleum, Cement or Cryogenic Products; Smelters or Refineries ", of Chapter 5.08 (Business License Schedule) of Title 5 (Business Regulations and Licensing) of the F.1 Segundo Munici- pal Code is hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows: "(b) Sixty dollars per year for each employee in excess of ten employees ". SECTION 3. Subsection (a) only of Section 5.08.520, "Manufacturing Business" of Chapter 5.08 (Business License Schedule) of Title 5 (Business Regulations and Licensing) of the E1 Segundo Municipal Code is hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows: "(a) A basic fee of fifty dollars per year, which shall cover the first ten employees, and sixty dollars per year for each employee in excess of ten employees; ". SECTION 4. Subsection (a) only of Section 5.08.570, "Professional Services," of Chapter 5.08 (Business License Schedule) of Title 5 (Business Regulations and Licensing) of the El Segundo Municipal Code is hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows: "(a) A basic fee of fifty dollars per year and sixty dollars per year for each em- ployee;". 57521 SECTION 5. Subsection (a) only of Section 5.08.585, "Retail Businesses ", of Chapter 5.08 (Business License Schedule) of Title 5 (Business Regulations and Licensing) of the E1 Segundo Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "(a) A basic fee of fifty dollars per year, which shall cover the first ten employees, and sixty dollars per year for each employee in excess of ten employees; ". SECTION 6. Subsection (a) only of Section 5.08.670, "Wholesale Businesses ", of Chapter 5.08 (Business License Schedule) of Title 5 (Business Regulations and Licensing) of the E1 Segundo Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "(a) A basic fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) per year, which shall cover the first ten (10) employees, and sixty dollars ($60.00) per year for each employee in excess of ten (10) employees; and ". SECTION 7. Section 5.08.275, "Contract Services ", of Chapter 5.08 (Business License Schedule) of Title 5 (Business Regulations and Licensing) of the E1 Segundo Municipal Code is hereby added to read as follows: "5.08.275 CONTRACT SERVICES. Every person who, in the course of conducting business, contracts with any other lawfully conducted businesses, as enumerated in Sections 5.08.020, 5.08.195, 5.08.520, 5.08.570, 5.08.585, 5.08.670, to provide services to such lawfully conducted businesses shall pay a license fee in accordance with the following schedule: (a) A basic fee of fifty dollars per year; and, (b) Sixty dollars per year for each employee." SECTION 8. Section 5.08.012, "Reduction of Per Employee License Fee Beginning Calendar Year 1994 ", of Chapter 5.08 (Business License Schedule) of Title 5 (Business Regulations and Licensing) of the E1 Segundo Municipal Code is hereby added to read as follows: "5.08.012 REDUCTION OF PER EMPLOYEE LICENSE FEE BEGINNING CALENDAR YEAR 1994. Beginning with the calendar year 1994, the amount of the per employee business license fee prescribed in Section 5.08.020, subsection (a); Section 5.08.195, subsection (b); Section 5.08.275, subsection (b); Section 5.08.520, subsection (a); Section 5.08.570, subsection (a); Section 5.08.585, subsection (a), and Section 5.08.670, subsection (a) shall be reduced by twenty dollars per employee." -2- 5753 SECTION 9. Notwithstanding Sections 1 through 7 and Section 10 of this ordinance, the license fees enacted by this ordinance shall be effective beginning January 1, 1986, and for each year thereafter until such license fees are amended. It is the intent of this ordinance that the license fees enacted by this ordinance not be effective for license fees for the calendar year 1985. SECTION 10. This ordinance, under Section 36937 of the Government Code of the State of California, being an ordinance relating to taxes for the usual and current expenses of the City, shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
