AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE "EL SEGUNDO
MUNICIPAL CODE" BY ADDING SECTIONS 2.29.030,
2.29.040 AND 2.29.050 TO CHAPTER 2.29 ENTITLED
"POLITICAL ACTIVITY. "
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Chapter 2.29 of the "El Segundo Municipal
Code" is amended by adding Sections 2.29.030, 2.29. 040 and 2.29. 050 to
read as follows:
2.29.030 POLITICAL ACTIVITY -- NON -MERIT SYSTEM
EMPLOYEES. The provisions of Sections 2.29.040 and 2.29. 050
shall apply to every officer and employee of the City who is com-
pensated on a full -time or part -time basis whose position is per-
manent or temporary except elected officials, members of the
Planning Commission, members of the Recreation and Parke Com-
mission and employees whose positions are covered by the Person-
nel Merit System and are regulated by Sections 2.29. 010 and
2.29. 020.
2.29.040 POLITICAL ACTIVITY DURING WORKING HOURS- -
NON-MERIT SYSTEM EMPLOYEES. No officer or employee of the
City enumerated in Section 2. 29. 030 shall engage in political activity
during working hours.
2.29.050 POLITICAL ACTIVITY ON PREMISES -- NON -MERIT
SYSTEM EMPLOYEES. No officer or employee of the City designa-
ted in Section 2.29.030 shall engage in political activity on premises
of the City.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall become effective at midnight
on the thirtieth day from and after the date of the final passage and adoption
thereof.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage andadop-
tion of this ordinance; shall cause the same to be entered in the book of origi-
nal ordinances of said city; shall make a minute of the passage and adoption
thereof in the records of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted;
and shall within fifteen days after the passage and adoption thereof, cause the
same to be published once in the El Segundo Herald, a weekly newspaper of
general circulation, published and circulated within said City of E1 Segundo
and which is hereby designated for that purpose.
