ORDINANCE 7394430 ORDINANCE NO. 739 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE "EL SEGUNDO MUNICIPAL CODE" BY AMENDING SECTIONS 10. 52. 010 AND 10. 52.020 RELATING TO SPEED LIMITS ON CERTAIN STREETS (ROSECRANS AVE- NUE) WITHIN SAID CITY. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Sections 10. 52. 010 and 10. 52. 020 of Chapter 10. 52 of the "E1 Segundo Municipal Code" are amended to read as follows: "10. 52.010 STATE LIMITS -- INCREASED ON CERTAIN STREETS. It is hereby determined upon the basis of an engineer- ing and traffic investigation that the speed permitted by state law upon the following streets is less than is necessary for safe opera- tion of vehicles thereon by reason of the designation and signpost - ing of the streets as through highways or by reason of widely spaced intersections, and it is hereby declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as hereinafter set forth on those streets or parts of streets herein designated when signs are erected giving notice thereof: Declared Prima facie Name of street or portion affected speed limit (miles per hour) Alaska Avenue, Douglas Street to Aviation Boulevard 35 Douglas Street, Alaska Avenue to Rosecrans Avenue 35 E1 Segundo Boulevard, Whiting Street to Sepulveda Boulevard 35 El Segundo Boulevard, Douglas Street to Isis Avenue 35 Grand Avenue, Nevada Street to Sepulveda Boulevard 35 Hawaii Street, Alaska Avenue to Aviation Boulevard 35 Imperial Highway, Sepulveda Boulevard to Nash Street 45 Imperial Highway, Nash Street to easterly city boundary 35 Maple Avenue, Sepulveda Boulevard to Nash Street 35 Mariposa Avenue, Sepulveda Boulevard to Douglas Street 35 Nash Street, Mariposa Avenue to Imperial Highway 35 Rosecrans Avenue, Aviation Boulevard to westerly city boundary 45 Utah Avenue, Douglas Street to Aviation Boulevard 35 "10. 52.020 STATE LIMITS -- DECREASED ON CERTAIN STREETS. It is hereby determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that the speed permitted by state law outside of business and residence districts as applicable upon the following streets is greater than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist upon such streets, and it is hereby declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as herein set forth on those streets or parts of streets herein designated when signs are erected giving notice thereof: Declared Prima facie Name of street or portion affected speed limit (miles per hour) Aviation Boulevard, Southern Pacific Railroad Cross- ing to Rosecrans Avenue 40 Aviation Boulevard, 116th Street to Southern Pacific Rail- road Crossing 35 4437 "Douglas Street, Imperial Highway to Alaska Avenue 35 E1 Segundo Boulevard, Sepulveda Boulevard to Douglas Street 45 Vista Del Mar, 45th Street to Grand Avenue 45" SECTION 2. That this ordinance shall become effective at midnight on the thirtieth day from and after the final passage and adoption thereof. SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance; shall cause the same to be entered in the book of original ordinances of said city; shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted; and shall within fifteen days after the passage and adoption thereof, cause the same to be published once in the El Segundo Herald, a weekly newspaper of gei eral circulation, published and circu- lated within said City of El Segundo and which is hereby designated for that purpose.
