ORDINANCE 70343 -9U ORDINANCE NO. 703 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 668 OF SAID CITY AND THE "UNIFORM FIRE CODE, MAY 1966 EDITION, " THEREIN ADOPTED BY AMENDING SECTION 1. 18 OF SAID CODE RE- LATING TO RIGHT OF ENTRY. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Section 1. 18 of Division II of Article I of the "Uniform Fire Code, May 1966 Edition,-" of the City of E1 Segundo, California, adopted by Ordinance No. 668, passed and adopted on the 28th day of August, 1967, is amended to read as follows: "Sec. 1. 18. Right of Entry. (a) The Fire Chief, or his duly authorized representative, snail have the authority to enter any building or premises for the purpose of extinguishing or con- trolling any fire, performing any rescue operation, investiga- ting the existence of suspected or reported fires, gas leaks or other hazardous conditions or taking any other action necessary in the reasonable performance of their duty. (b) Except in emergency situations as defined in Section 1. 18 (a) of this Code, the Fire Chief, or his authorized repre- sentative, shall not enter any building or premises without the consent of the owner or occupant thereof, unless he possesses a reasonable search warrant authorizing entry and search of the premises. (c) No person shall hinder or prevent the Fire Chief, or his authorized representative, while in the performance of the duties described in subsection (a) and (b), from entering upon and into any and all premises under his jurisdiction, at all rea- sonable hours, for the purpose of inspecting the same to deter- mine whether or not the provisions of this Code and all other applicable laws or ordinances pertaining to the protection of persons or property from fire and explosions are observed therein. " SECTION 2. That this ordinance shall become effective at midnight on the thirtieth day from and after the final passage and adop- tion thereof. SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance; shall cause the same to be entered in the book of original ordinances of said city; shall make a minute of the pass- age and adoption thereof in the records of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted; and shall within fifteen days after the passage and 4N.141 adoption thereof, cause the same to be published once in the E1 Segundo Herald, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, published and circu- lated within said City of El Segundo and which is hereby designated for that purpose.
