ORDINANCE 69943P- Z) ORDINANCE NO. 699 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTIONS 19.2 AND 19. 3 OF "THE CODE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, 1958, " AND ADDING TO SAID CODE SECTION 19. 3. 1, WHICH SAID SECTIONS RELATE TO LOITERING. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Sections 19. 2 and 19. 3 of "The Code of the City of El Segundo, California, 1958, " are hereby amended and Section 19. 3. 1 of said Code is hereby added, to read as follows: "Sec. 19. 2. Loitering persons under eighteen years. Every person under the age of eighteen years who loiters about the public streets, avenues, alleys, parks, or other public places between the hour of 10 :00 otclock P. M. and the time of sunrise of the following day when not accom- panied by his parent or legal guardian having legal custody and control of such person, or by the spouse over twenty - one years of age of such person, is guilty of a misdemeanor. "Sec. 19. 3. Same -- Responsibility of parents and uardians. Every parent, guardian, or other person having e legal care, custody, or control of any person under the age of eighteen years who knowingly aids, abets, or encourages such person described in Section 19. 2 to violate any provision of Section 19. 2 of this Code is guilty of a misdemeanor. "Sec. 19. 3. 1. Loiter Defined. The word "loiter" as used in this Code is defined to mean o i le, to loaf, to stand idly by, or to walk, drive or ride about aimlessly without lawful purpose. " SECTION 2. That this ordinance shall become effective at midnight on the thirtieth day from and after the final passage and adop- tion thereof. SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance; shall cause the same to be entered in the book of original ordinances of said city; shall make a minute of the pass- age and adoption thereof in the records of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted; and shall within fifteen days after the passage and adoption thereof, cause the same to be published once in the E1 Segundo 43AS-A Herald, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, published and circu- lated within said City of El Segundo and which is hereby designated for that purpose.
