ORDINANCE NO. 576
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 507
(THE COMPREHENSIVE ZONING ORDINANCE)
OF SAID CITY AND RELATING TO THE ESTAB-
LISHMENT AND CONDUCT OF PRIVATE CLUBS,
FRATERNITIES, SORORITIES AND LODGES ON
PROPERTY ZONED FOR RESIDENTIAL USE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALI-
FORNIA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the provisions of subsection 9 of Section
600 of Article 6 of Ordinance No. 507 (The Comprehensive Zoning Ordi-
nance) of the City of El Segundo, California, permitting private clubs,
fraternities, sororities and lodges on property zoned for residential use,
shall be, and the same and the uses therein recited, are hereby set aside,
repealed and prohibited.
SECTION 2. That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an
emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the pub-
lic peace, health and safety and shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption, and the facts constituting such emergency are as follows:
The City Planning Commission and Zoning Administrator, in
good faith, intend to conduct studies within a reasonable time
and this Ordinance is necessary to prohibit any use which may
be in conflict with such zoning ordinance or ordinances which
they may recommend for adoption by the City Council.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the pass-
age and adoption of this Ordinance; shall cause the same to be entered
in the book of original ordinances of said City; shall make a minute of
the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the meeting at which
the same is passed and adopted; and shall within fifteen days after the
passage and adoption thereof, cause the same to be published once in the
El Segundo Herald, a bi- weekly newspaper of general circulation, pub-

lished and circulated within said City of El Segundo and which is hereby
designated for that purpose.
