ORDINANCE NO. 442.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALI-
FORNIA, FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY NECESSARY
TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION UPON THE TAXABLE
PROPERTY THEREIN AS A REVENUE TO CARRY ON THE
VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF SAID CITY; PAY ITS
BONDED INDEBTEDNESS; MEET ITS OBLIGATIONS UN-
DER THE CALIFORNIA STATE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT
ACT; MAINTAIN THE FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY OF SAID
CITY; AND MEET AND PAY THE COSTS OF SEWERAGE
FACILITIES OF SAID CITY; FOR THE CURRENT FIS-
CAL YEAR 1954 -1955.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA,
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the amount of money necessary to be
raised by taxation upon the taxable property in the City of El Se-
gundo, California, as a revenue to carry on the various depart-
ments of said City; pay its bonded indebtedness; meet its obliga-
tions under the California State Employees' Retirement Act;
maintain the free public library of said City; and meet and pay-the
costs of sewerage facilities for the current fiscal year 1954 -1955,
is hereby, for the respective items or purposes abo.-e and herein-
after set forth or referred to, determined and fixed as follows,
to wit:
1. For carrying on the various departments
of said City, the sum of ----------------- $529,024.44
2. For paying the bonded indebtedness
of said City, the sum of ------------- - - - ---$ 72,476.34
3. For meeting and paying the obliga-
tions of said City to the State Em-
ployees' Retirement System under the
provisions of the California State
Employees' Retirement Act, the sum of - - - -s 470612.19

r 4. For the maintenance of the free public
library of said City of El Segundo, as
authorized under the provisions of Sec-
tion 22241 (as amended) of the Educa-
tion Code of the State of California,
the sum of ------------------------- - - - - -- 199573.90
5. For meeting and paying the costs of
sewerage facilities as contemplated
by law, the sum of ------------------ - - - - -4 70406.34
SECTION 2. That this ordinance, being an ordinance fix-
ink the amount of money to be raised by taxation as required under
the provisions of Sections 51500 to 51519, both inclusive, of the
Government Code of the State of California, to go into effect be-
fore the 1st day of September, 1954; and also being an ordinance
fixing the amount of money to be raised by taxation as referred
to in Subdivision 'f(d)" of Section 36937 of the Government Code
of the State of California, the same shall therefore take effect
and be in full force and virtue immediately upon the passage and
adoption thereof.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this ordinance; shall make a minute of
the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings
of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the meeting at
which the same is passed and adopted; and shall cause the same to
be published once in the El Segundo Herald, a weekly newspaper of
general circulation, published and circulated within said City,
and which is hereby designated for that purpose.
Passed, approved and adopted this 25th day of August,
1954.
