ORDINANCE NO. 424.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 306
(THE LAND USE PLAN - ZONING ORDINANCE)
OF SAID CITY BY ADDING A NEW SECTION TO
BE KNOWN AS nSECTION 17.11' TO SAID OR-
DINANCE NO. 306, AS AMENDED; AND BY
AMENDING THE ZONING MAP LAND USE PLAN
THEREIN REFERRED TO, PURSUANT TO PRO-
CEEDINGS HAD ON THE APPLICATION OF
JAMES W. McBRIDE.
WHEREAS, under the provisions of Ordinance No. 306
(the Land Use Plan - Zoning Ordinance) of the City of E1 Se-
gundo, hereinafter referred to, an application was filed by
James W. McBride for a reclassification of the real property
hereinafter described, in the City of E1 Segundo, California,
from a district of Zone R -1 to a district of Zone R -3 under
the provisions of said Ordinance No. 306, as amended; and
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission of said City
did, as required by law, duly and regularly process the said
application and hold public hearings thereon, and did duly
and regularly report to and file with the City Council of said
City (by Resolution No. 143 of said Commission adopted on the
13th day of April, 1953) the findings, determinations and re-
commendations of said Planning Commission with reference to
said application; and
WHEREAS, said Commission in its said Resolution No.
143 did recommend that the requested change from Zone R -1 to
Zone R -3 be granted; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of said City, on its own
part, has, as required by law, duly and regularly processed

and held a public hearing upon the said application, and has
considered the said application and all of the files and records
of said Commission relating thereto, and has also duly con-
sidered all evidence, both oral and documentary, submitted,
both to said Commission and to said City Council, with refer-
ence to said application and the matter of said proposed re-
classification; and
WHEREAS, said City Council has reached its deter-
mination and decision with reference to said matter as herein-
after set forth;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL
SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the said Council does hereby ap-
prove the recommendations of said City Planning Commission in
the matter of said application as set forth in said Resolution
No. 143 of said Commission, save and except that the City Coun-
cil believes, and therefore finds, that the change from Zone
R -1 to Zone R -3 should only apply to that certain portion of
the real property referred to in said Resolution No. 143 of
said Commission which is hereinafter described in new "Section
17.11" added to said Ordinance No. 306 and which is herein-
after quoted in Section 2 of this ordinance.
SECTION 2. That Ordinance No. 306 of the City of
E1 Segundo, entitled:
"AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ZONES WITHIN
THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO AND ESTABLISHING
CLASSIFICATION OF LAND USES AND REGULAT-
ING SUCH LAND USES IN SUCH ZONES; REGU-
'LATING THE HEIGHT OF BUILDINGS, AND OPEN
SPACES FOR LIGHT AND VENTILATION; ADOPT-
ING A MAP OF SAID ZONES; DEFINING THE
TERMS USED IN SAID ORDINANCE; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADJUSTMENT, AMENDMENT AND EN-
FORCEMENT THEREOF; PRESCRIBING PENALTIES
FOR ITS VIOLATION. ",
passed and adopted on the 22nd day of January, 1947, as amended,

shall be and the same is hereby amended by adding a new section
thereto to be known and designated as "Section 17.11 ", and
which said new Section 17.11 shall read as follow §, to wit:
"SECTION 17.11. That pursuant to zone change
application of James W. McBride, as duly processed
and heard by the Planning Commission and by the City
Council of said City, the following described real
property located within the City of E1 Segundo,
County of Los Angeles, State of California, to wit:
A portion of Lot 1 of J. H. Fishert s Sub-
division, in Section 12 of the Sausal Re-
dondo Rancho, in the City of E1 Segundo,
as per map recorded in Book 22, Page 87
of Miscellaneous Records, on file in the
office of the County Recorder of Los An-
geles County, California, described as
follows:
Beginning at a point in the West line
of the J. H. Fisher Subdivision which
point is 150 feet southerly thereon
from the intersection of said West
line with the South line of Imperial
Highway, 60 feet wide; thence South
00 Olt 0$" West along the West line
of Fisherts Subdivision 100 feet;
thence South 890 5$1 50" East $$ feet;
thence North 00 O1t.08" East 100 feet;
thence North 890 5$1 50" West $$ feet
to the point of beginning,
shall be and the same is hereby changed, reclassified
and redistricted from a district of Zone R -1 to a
district of Zone R -3 under the provisions of this or-
dinance."
SECTION 3. That said City Council has caused to be
prepared a small area map of the area or district affected by
the zone change hereinabove ordered to be made, which said
small area map is hereunto attached, designated as "Exhibit A ",
and is hereby referred to and by this reference incorporated
herein and made a part hereof. Said small area map (Exhibit
A) is hereby adopted as, and shall be an amendment to the

extent of the area shown thereon and affected thereby, of the
zoning map of the said City of E1 Segundo, referred to in, and
which is adopted by, the provisions of Section 3 of said Ordi-
nance No. 306 of said City, as amended.
SECTION 4. That said Ordinance No. 306, as amended,
and said Zoning Map of said City, as amended, shall be and the
same are hereby amended as hereinabove in Sections 2 and 3 of
this ordinance set forth.
SECTION 5. That this ordinance shall become effec-
tive at midnight on the thirtieth day from and after the date
of the final passage and adoption thereof.
SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this ordinance; shall cause the same to
be entered in the book of original ordinances of said City;
shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the
records of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted;
and shall, within fifteen days after the passage and adoption
thereof, cause the same to be published once in the E1 Segundo
Herald, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, published
and circulated within said City of E1 Segundo and which is
hereby designated for that purpose.
