ORDINANCE 3922607 ORDINANCE NO. 392 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 362 OF SAID CITY AND THE "BUILDING CODE" THEREIN ADOPTED, BY ADDING TO SAID CODE A NEW SECTION DESIGNATED AS "SECTION 1505.1" RELATING TO GARAGE FLOORS; AND BY AMERDING THE PARAGRAPH DESIGNATED AS "3" UNDER "EXCEPTIONS" OF SECTION 2204 OF SAID CODE RELATING TO FOUNDATIONS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUND09 CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That a new section to be known and desig- nated as "Section 1505.1 ", shall be and the same is hereby added to the "Building Code" of the City of E1 Segundo, California, adopted by Ordinance No. 362 of said City, entitled, "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING RULES AND REGU- LATIONS RELATING TO AND REGULATING THE ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, ENLARGM!ENT, AL- TERATION, REPAIR, MOVING, REMOVAL, DEMO- LITION, CONVERSION, OCCUPANCY, EQUIPM WT, USE, HEIGHT, AREA AND MAINTENANCE,,-OF BUILD- INGS AND STRUCTURES IN THE SAID CITY; PRO- VIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS AND THE PAYMENT OF FEES THEREFOR; DECLARING AND ESTABLISHING FIRE DISTRICTS; PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF OR- DINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; BY ADOPTING A CERTAIN CODE DESIGNATED THEREIN AS "UNI- FORM BUILDING CODE 1949 EDITION VOLUME I ", AS ADAPTED FOR USE IN SAID CITY; AND "VOLUME II UNIFORM BUILDING CODE-STANDARDS 1949 EDITION ", PUBLISHED BY-THE PACIFIC COAST BUILDING OFFICIALS CONFERENCE.", passed and adopted on the 30th day of November, 1949, and which said new "Section 1505.1" shall read as follows, to wit: "SECTION 1505.1. Every garage constructed or erected in the City of E1 Segundo on, or subs@quent - 1 - i to, the effective date of this section shall be pro- vided with a floor constructed of cement concrete, or asphaltic concrete, or of other like or similar mater- ial satisfactory to and approved by the Building In- spector of said City, of not less than the following thicknesses, to wit: "If constructed of cement concrete, not less than three and a half (3*) inches; "If constructed of asphaltic concrete, not less than two (2) inches; and "If constructed of any other like or similar material, such floor shall have a thickness of not less than that speci- fied for such purposes by the manufacturer or producer of such material, and if none is so specified, then the thickness shall be to the satisfaction and approval of the Building Inspector." SECTION 2. That the paragraph designated as "3" under the heading of "EXCEPTIONS" set forth in Section 2204 of said Code shall be, and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows, to wit: "3. A one -story building (except a Group I occupancy) which does not exceed one hundred square feet (100 sq. ft.) in area, including additions, may be constructed without a masonry or concrete foundation if the walls are supported on a wood mudsill." SECTION 3. That said Ordinance No. 362 and said "Building Code" thereby adopted shall be and the same are here- by amended as hereinabove in Sections 1 and 2 of this ordinance set forth. - 2 - 2609 SECTION 4. That this ordinance and the amendments here- by adopted shall be effective thirty (30) days from and after the final passage and adoption thereof. SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance; shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceed- ings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted; and within 15 days after the adoption thereof shall cause the same to be pub- lished once in the E1 Segundo Herald, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated within said City, and which is hereby designated for that purpose. 1951.
