ORDINANCE NO. 359-
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY
NECESSARY TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION UPON
THE TAXABLE PROPERTY THEREIN AS A REVENUE
TO CARRY ON THE V_=OUS DEPARTMENTS OF
SAID CITY; PAY ITS BONDED INDEBTEDNESS;
MEET ITS OBLIGATIONS UNDER THE CALIFORNIA
STATE E11PLOYEES' RETIRELENT ACT; AND
MAINTAIN THE FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY OF SAID
CITY; AND FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY
NECESSARY TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION UPON
THE TAXABLE LAND OF "ACT OF 1927 MUNICIPAL
IMPROTI'=T DISTRICT NO. 1" OF SAID CITY;
FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEaR 1949 -1950.
The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo, California,
does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That the amount of money necessary to be
raised by taxation upon the taxable property in the City of E1
Segundo, California, as a revenue to carry on the various de-
partments of said City; pay its bonded indebtedness; meet its
obligations under the California State Employees' Retirement
Act; and maintain the free public library of said City-,for the
current fiscal year 1949 -1950, is hereby, for the respective
items or purposes above and hereinafter set forth or referred
to, determined and fixed as follows, to -wit:
I. For carrying on the various departments
of said city, the sum of - - - - - - - - $ _344,134.90
2. For paying the bonded indebtedness of
said city, the sum of - - - - - - - - - 75,641.28
3. For meeting and paying the obligations
of said city to the State Employees'
Retirement System under the provisions
of the California State Employees'
Retirement Act, the sum of - - - - - - - 41,296.19

4. For the maintenance of the free public
library of said City of E1 Segundo,
as authorized under the provisions
of Section 22241 (as amended) of the
Education Code of the State of
California, the sum of - - - - - - - -

SECTION 2. That the amount of money necessary to be
raised by taxation upon the taxable land within "Act of 1927
Municipal Improvement District No. 1" of the City of El Segundo,
for paying the bonded indebtedness of said district for the
current fiscal year 1949 -1950, is hereby determined and fixed
at the sum of - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - $ Nothing.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this ordinance; shall enter the same in
the Book of Original Ordinances of said City; shall make a
minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of
the proceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes
of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted; and
shall cause the same to be published once in the E1 Segundo
Herald, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, published
and circulated in the said City of E1 Segundo, and which is
hereby designated for that purpose.
SECTION 4. That this ordinance, being an ordinance
fixing the amount of money to be raised by taxation as required
under the provisions of an Act of the Legislature of the State
of California, entitled: "An Act to Provide for the Levy and
Collection of Taxes by and for the Use of Municipal Corporations
and Cities Incorporated under the Laws of the State of California,
except Municipal Corporations of the First Class, and to Provide
for the Consolidation and Abolition of Certain Municipal Offices,
and to Provide that their Duties May be Performed by Certain
Officers of the County, and Fixing the Compensation to be Allowed
for such County Officers for the Services so Rendered to such
Municipal Corporations. ", approved March 27, 1895, as amended
(Deering's General Laws of California, 1944 edition, Act 8464),

to go into effect on or before the 30th day of August, 1949;
and also being an ordinance for the immediate preservation of
the public peace, health and safety of said City in this, that
it is urgently needed to make proper provision for municipal
revenues without which the City could not function, the same
shall therefore take effect and be in full force immediately
upon the passage and adoption thereof.

August, 1949.
