WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, on the 15th day of June, 1949, at a regular meeting
of said Council held on said date, duly passed and adopted a
resolution, being Resolution of Intention No. 1002, entitled:
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING
THE INTENTION OF SAID COUNCIL TO CLOSE
UP, VACATE AND ABANDON FOR PUBLIC STREET
PURPOSES A CERTAIN PORTION OF HOLLY
AVENUE WITHIN SAID CITY, AND TO CLOSE UP,
VACATE AND ABANDON FOR PUBLIC ALLEY PUR-
POSES A CERTAIN PORTION OF THAT CERTAIN
PUBLIC ALLEY -1:+'ITHIN SAID CITY EXTENDING
NORTHERLY AND SOUTHERLY IN BLOCK 67, OF
EL S EGUNDO, AS SHUMN ON EL SEGUNDO SHEET
NO. 73 BOOK 22, PAGES 54 AND 55 OF MAPS,
RECORDS OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY. ";
AND, 1i,"I EREAS, the Street Superintendent of the City
of El Segundo, California, after the passage and adoption of
said resolution, caused to be conspicuously posted along the
lines of Holly Avenue, within said City, and along the lines
of the portion of the public alley so to be vacated within
said City, as hereinafter described, and along the lines of all
of the public streets, ways, roads and drives, and portions of
public streets, ways, roads and drives within the assessment

district described in said Resolution of Intention No. 10022
and at not more than three hundred (300) feet in distance
apart, upon said streets, ways, roads and drives; and not
less than three (3) in all, on any such street, way, road or
drive, notices of the passage of said resolution, said notices
being named "Notice of Public Works," in letters not less than
one (1) inch in length, and stating the facts of the passage
of said resolution, its date and briefly the work or improve-
ment proposed, being that of vacating and abandoning for
public street purposes a certain portion of Holly Avenue,
within said City, as hereinafter described, and of vacating
and abandoning for public alley purposes a certain portion
of that certain public alley, within said City, as hereinafter
described, which said notices referred to said Resolution of
Intention for further particulars;
AlTD, i'RE sS, said Street Superintendent also caused
a notice, similar to that hereinbefore referred to, to be
published by four (4) successive insertions in the El Segundo
Herald, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, published and
circulated within the said City of E1 Segundo, being the news-
paper designated by said City Council for the purpose of said
publication; and more than ten (10) days after the expiration
of the time of publication of said notice having elapsed; and
no objections to said improvement having been delivered to the
City Clerk of said City, or otherwise made, and the said Council
having acquired jurisdiction to order the vacating of said por-
tion of Holly Avenue within said City, as hereinafter described,
and of said portion of said public alley within said City, as
hereinafter described;
NOV!, =I - BEFORE, the City Council of the City of El
Segundo, California, does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. (A) That all of that certain portion of
that certain public street within said City of El Segundo,
California, designated and known as Holly Avenue, which is

included within the following described exterior boundary line,
to-wit:
Beginning at the northwest corner of Lot 1, Block 34,
as per E1 Segundo Sheet No. 7, Book 22, Pages 54 and
55 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles County, California,
and on file in the office of the County Recorder of
said County; thence northerly, in a straight line, to
the southwest corner of Lot 9, Block 67, recorded and
on file as aforesaid; thence easterly along the
southerly line of said Lot 9 and along the easterly
prolongation of said Lot 9 across the intervening
alley and along the southerly line of Lot 10 of
Block 67, recorded and on file as aforesaid, to the
southeast corner of said Lot 10; thence southerly
in a straight line, to the northeast corner of Lot
13, Block 34, recorded and on file as aforesaid;
thence westerly along the northerly line of Lots 13
and 1 of said Block 34, to the point of beginning.
be and the same is hereby closed up, vacated and abandoned for
public street purposes; and
(B) That all of that certain portion of
that certain public alley extending northerly and southerly
in Block 67, of El Segundo, as shown on El Segundo Sheet No. 7,
Book 22, Pages 54 and 55 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles County,
California, on file in the office of the County Recorder of
said County, described as follows, to -wit:
The southerly one hundred and eighty -five feet
(185.001) of that certain public alley in Block
67, and extending northerly and southerly therein,
and as shown on E1 Segundo Sheet No. 7, Book 22,
Pages 54 and 55 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles
County, California, and on file in the office of
the County Recorder of said County.
be and the same is hereby closed up, vacated and abandoned for
public alley purposes.
That the purpose of these proceedings and of this
ordinance is to vacate and abandon for public street purposes
all of said hereinabove described portion of said Holly Avenue
within said City, and to vacate and abandon for public alley
purposes all of said hereinabove described portion of said
public alley extending northerly and southerly through said
Block 67 within said City.
SECTION 2. That the public work herein provided for
t is (a) the vacating, abandoning and closing up of all of that

certain portion of Holly Avenue, hereinabove described in
Section 1 hereof; and (b) the vacating, abandoning and
closing up of all that certain portion of that certain public
alley extending northerly and southerly through said Block 67,
hereinabove described in said Section 1 hereof; and it appear-
ing to the City Council of said City of El Segundo that there
are no costs, damages or expenses occasioned by or arising out
of said work, and that no assessment is necessary to pay the
costs, damages or expenses of said work, now, therefore, said
Council does hereby further ordain and determine that no com-
missioners shall be appointed to assess benefits and damages.
SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall take effect
and be in full force and virtue thirty (30) days from and after
the final passage and adoption thereof.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this ordinance; shall make a minute of
the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceed-
ings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the
meeting at which the same is passed and adopted; shall enter
the same in the Book of Original Ordinances of said City; and
shall cause the same to be published once in the E1 Segundo
Herald, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, published
and circulated within said City of El Segundo, and which is
hereby designated for that purpose.
