ORDINANCE NO. 355.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 306
(THE LAND USE PLAN - ZONING ORDINANCE),
OF SAID CITY, BY AMENDING SUBDIVISION OR
ITEM 48 - TRAILER CAMPS, OF SECTION 10:
"M -1" LIGHT MANUFACTURING ZONE, OF SAID
ORDINANCE NO. 306.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That subdivision or item 48- Trailer
Camps, of Section 10: "M -1" Light Manufacturing Zone, of
Ordinance No. 306, of said City, entitled:
"AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ZONES WITHIN THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO AND ESTABLISHING CLASSIFI-
CATION OF LAND USES AND REGULATING SUCH LAND
USES IN SUCH ZONES; REGULATING THE HEIGHT OF
BUILDINGS, AND OPEN SPACES FOR LIGHT AND
VENTILATION: ADOPTING A MAP OF SAID ZONES;
DEFINING THE TERMS USED IN SAID ORDINANCE;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADJUSTMENT, AMENDMENT AND
ENFORCEMENT THEREOF; PRESCRIBING PENALTIES
FOR ITS VIOLATION. ",
passed and adopted on the 22nd day of January, 1947, shall
be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows:
"48. Trailer Camps, provided no trailer camps
shall be located anywhere within the said City
other than in an M -1 zone easterly of Sepulveda
Boulevard."
SECTION 2. That said Ordinance No. 306 shall be
1-
and the same is hereby amended as hereinabove set forth in
Section 1 of this Ordinance.
SECTION 3. This ordinance is an emergency
ordinance affecting, and for the immediate preservation of,
the public peace, health, safety, comfort, convenience and
general welfare and the same shall therefore become effective
immediately upon the final passage and adoption thereof.
The facts constituting its urgency are as follows:
The provisions of Ordinance No. 306 bearing upon
trailer camps being general as they pertain to the permissive
location of such camps in any M -1 or M -2 Zone, and there being
a great increase in the use of trailers and an indicated influx
thereof into the City of E1 Segundo; and the location of such
trailer camps without further restriction than those contained
in said Ordinance No. 306 (prior to this amendment) gives
promise of interfering with the orderly development of certain
industrial areas, which said development is of prime import-
ance to the City and the lands therein, and it is essential
that the location of said trailer camps be limited to the
herein mentioned restricted area so as to prevent interference
with the planning and development of industrial sites with
rail and truck highway facilities, all designed on a compre-
hensive basis.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this ordinance by a vote of at least
four- fifths of all of the members of the City Council of said
City; shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof
in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said
City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is
passed and adopted; shall enter the same in the Book of
0
Original Ordinances of said City; and shall publish the same
once in the E1 Segundo Herald, a weekly newspaper of general
circulation published and circulated within said City, and
which is hereby designated for that purpose.
