ORDINANCE 2840 13 0i ORDINANCE NO. 284. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO8 CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY NECESSARY TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION UPON THE TAXABLE PROPEgTY THEREIN AS A REVENUE TO CARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS (INCLUDING THE EL SEGUNDO PU3LIC LIBRARY); PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF E:AID CITY AND OF A CER,PAIP DISTRICT HEREIN; AND TO MEET THE OBLIGATIONS OF SAID CITY UNDER THE CALIFORNIA STATE EN'2LOYEE5' RETIREMENT ACT, FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR 1945 -1946. The City Council of the City of E1 Segunde, California, does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That the amount of money necessary to be raised by ta..aticn upon the taxable property in the City of El Segundo, California, as a revenue to carry on the various departments (including the E1 Segundo Public Library) of said municipal corporation for the current fiscal year 1945 -1946; to pay the bonded and other indebtedness of said City of El Segundo, California., and necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable land of that certain municipal improvement district therein, hereinafter referred to; and to pay the obligations of said city under the California State Employees' Retirement Act, is hereby, for the respective items or purposes above and hereinafter referred to, fixed as follows , to-wi t: 1. For carrying on the various departments (including the El Segundo Public Library) of said city, the sum of . . . . . . ,Y 192,753.66 2. For paying the bonded indebtedness of said city, the sum of 15,411.10 3. For paying the bonded indebtedness of Act of 1927 Municipal Improvement District No. 1 of the City of El Segundo, the sum of. . . None 4. For meeting and paying the obligations of said city to the State Employees' Retirement Sys- tem under the provisions of the California State Employees' Retirement Act. . . . . . . 18,500.00 SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance, and shall cause the same to be published once in the E1 Segundo Herald, a 1- weekly newspaper printed, published and circulated in the City of El Segundo, which is hereby designated for that purpose. SECTION 3. That this ordinance, being an ordinance required under the provisions of an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, entitled: "An Act to Provide for the Levy and Collection of Taxes by and for the Use of Muni- cipal Corporations and Cities Incorporated under the Laws of the State of California, except Municipal Corporations of the First Class, and to Provide for the Consolidation and Abolition of Certain Municipal Offices, and to Provide that their Duties May be Performed by Certain Officers of the County, and Fixing the Compensation to be Allowed for such County Officers for the Services so Rendered to such Municipal Corporations. ", approved March 27, 1895, as amended to date, to go into effect on or before the 28th day of August, A. D., 1945; and also being an ordinance for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety of said city in this, that it is urgently needed to make proper provision for municipal revenues without which the city could not function, the same shall therefore, take effect and be in full force immediately upon the passage and adoption thereof.
