ORDINANCE 278I US I i r'11 L- ORDINANC,g NO. 278 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING A UNIFORM ELECTRICAL CODE IN AND FOR SAID CITY AND ALSO ADOPTING THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE THEREIN REFERRED TO. The City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That the rules, regulations, pro- visions, requirements, orders and matters set forth in that certain code entitled: "Uniform Electrical Code Published by the Pacific Coast Electrical Bureau 1941 Edition ", and in that certain code entitled: 01940 National Electrical Code (NBFU Pamphlet No. 70, with Supplement to September 1, 1942)", which is referred to in said Uniform Electrioal Code, shall be and tho same are hereby established and adopted as the rules, regulations, provisions, requirements and orders to be observed and followed in the construction, installation, arrangement, alteration, repair, maintenance and operation of electric or electrical wiring, fixtures, appliances and equipment within the City of E1 Segundo, California; and the issuance of permits therefor. SECTION 2. Three full printed copies of said "Uniform Electrical Code Published by the Paoifio Coast Electrical Bureau 1941 Ecli tion", and three full printed copies of said "1940 National Eleotrical Code (NBFU Pamphlet No. 70, with Supplement to September 1, 1942) ", printed as a code in book form, were actually filed in the offioe of the City Clerk of the City of El Segundo, California, in I� 0'? the City Hall of said city, on the 3rd day of May, 1944, and each and all of the said copies, ever since the date of said filing, have been and now are, and will hereafter continue to be, open to public inspection, and for use and examination by the public. SECTION 3. That wherever any provision of said "Uniform Electrical Code Published by the Pacific Coast Electrical Bureau 1941 Edition ", is in conflict with the provisions of said "1940 National Electrical Code (NBFU Pamphlet No. 70, with Supplement to September 1, 1942)0, the provisions of said Uniform Electrical Code shall control. SECTION 4. The provisions of this ordinance and of the respective codes hereby adopted, shall not apply within or to the area included within Fire Zone No. 4 of the City of El Segundo, as same now exists, or as same may hereafter exist, within said city. SECTION 5. That any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance, or any of the provisions of the rules, regulations or requirements of the said respective codes hereby adopted, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $300.00, or by imprisonment in the County Jail of Los Angeles County, California, or in the City Jail of said City of El Segundo, California, as the committing magistrate may direct, for a period of not to exceed three months, or by both such fine and imprisonment In the discretion of the Court. Each such person, firm, or corporation, violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for every day during any portion of which any violation of any provision of this ordinance 2- is committed or continued or permitted by such person, firm or dorporation, and shall be punishable therefor as provided by this ordinance. SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance, and shall cause the same to be published once in the official paper of said city, to••wit: the E1 Segundo Herald, a weekly newspaper published and circulated within said city, and which is hereby designated for that purpose. SECTION 7. That this ordinance shall become effeotive at midnight on the thirtieth day from and after the date of the final passage and adoption thereof.
