ORDINANCE 250L ORDINANCE NO. 250 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE OF SAID CITY, AS ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 222, BY AMENDING SECTION 203 OF SAID UNIFORM BUILDING CODE. The City Council of the City of El Segundo, California, does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That Section 203 of the Uniform Building Code of the City of E1 Segundo, adopted by Ordinance No. 222, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING RULES AND RE- GULATIONS RELATING TO AND REGULATING THE ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, ENLARGEMENT, ALTER- ATION, REPAIR, MOVING, REMOVAL, DEMOLITION, CONVERSION, OCCUPANCY, EQUIPMENT, USE, HEIGHT, AREA AND MAINTENANCE OF BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN THE SAID CITY; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS; DECLARING AND ESTABLISHING FIRE ZONES; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT - THEREWITH; BY ADOPTING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF A CERTAIN CODE DESIGNATED THEREIN AS &BUILDING CODEI RELATING TO SUCH MATTERS, PRINTED IN BOOK FORM AND FILED, TOGETHER WITH ALL DOCUMENTS THEREIN REFERRED TO, AS PROVIDED BY LAW, IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK OF SAID CITY. ", passed and adopted on the 17th day of May, 1939, shall be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows: "SEC. 203. Any person desiring a building permit shall, at the time of filing an application therefor, as provided in Sec. 201 of this Code, pay to the Building Inspector a fee as required in this section. For a total valuation of $50.00 or less no fee; For a total valuation from 450.00 to $1,001 a $2.00 fee; and an additional fee of $2.00 for each additional $1000 or fraction thereof of total valuation to and including $15,000; 1- i and an additional fee of $1.00 for each additional $1000 or fraction thereof of total valuation to and including $50,000; and an additional fee of 50� for each additional $1000 or fraction thereof of total valuation exceeding $50,000. The city, county, state, or the United States of America shall be exempt from the paying of any fee for any building. Where work for which a permit is required by this Code is started or proceeded with prior to obtaining said permit, the fees above specified shall be doubled, but the payment of such double fee shall not relieve any persons from fully complying with the requirements of this Code in the execution of thework nor from any other penalties prescribed herein. The Building Inspector shall keep a permanent, accurate account of all fees and other monies collected and received under this Code and give the names of the persons upon whose account the same were paid, the date and amount thereof, together with the location of the building or premises to which they relate. It is provided, however, that in all cases where the total valuation of the building or structure re- ferred to in the application for a building permit equals or exceeds the sum of $15,000.00, that an additional plan checking fee shall be paid to the Building Inspector, which said additional plan check- ing fee shall be an amount equal to one -half of the permit fee for such building or structure hereinabove required." SECTION 2. That said Uniform Building Code and said Ordinance No. 222 adopting the same, are hereby amended as hereinabove in Section 1 of this ordinance set forth. 2- r 4� SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and virtue on an after the first day of January, 1942. SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance; shall enter the same in the book of original ordinances of said City; shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the meeting of said Council at which the same is passed and adopted; and shall, within fifteen (15) days after the passage and adoption thereof, cause the same to be published once in the E1 Segundo Herald, a weekly news- paper of general circulation, published and circulated within the said City of E1 Segundo, and which is hereby designated for that purpose.
