ORDINANCE NO. 234_.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO , CALI-
MMUA, FIXING AND ESTABLISHING A CERTAIN SET
BACK LINE ALONG A PORTION OF THE SOUTHERLY LINE
OF IMPERIAL HIGHKM WITHIN TBE SAID CITY.
The City Council of the City of El Segundo, California,
does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That the public peace, health, safety,
comfort, convenience, interest and welfare of the City of
E1 Segundo, California, require, and it is hereby ordered and
ordained by the City Council of said City, after evidence re-
ceived and considered upon the subject, that the minimum distance
back from the southerly street line of Imperial Highway (formerly
known as Collingwood Avenue and also formerly known as Belleview
Avenue) for the erection of buildings or structures along the
following portion of Imperial Highway hereinafter referred to,
to -wit:
On the Southerly side of said Imperial Highway,
between the westerly line of Lot 4 and the East-
erly line of Lot 19 Block 102, as shown upon
E1 Segundo Sheet Number 4, recorded in Book 20,
page 24 of Maps, Records of Los Angeles County,
California, and on file in the office of the
County Recorder of said County,
shall be and the same is hereby fixed and established for such
portion as follows, to wit:
20 feet southerly of the southerly line of
Imperial Highway (formerly known as Collingwood
Avenue and also formerly known as Belleview Avenue)`.
SECTION 2. No building, wall, (except retaining walls)
fence or other structure shall be erected or constructed, or

moved upon any property or premises between the set back line
hereinabove in Section 1 of this ordinance established and the
street line of Imperial Highway in front of such premises or
property, and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or cor-
poration to construct, move upon or erect, or to begin, or engage
in the construction, moving or erection of any building, wall,
fence or other structure, on any premises or property between
said set back line so established and the street line of
Imperial Highway in front of such premises or property.
SECTION 3. That any person, firm or corporation
violating any of the provisions of this ordinance, shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof
shall be punishable by a fine of not to exceed $300.00, or by
imprisonment in the City Sail of the City of El Segundo, or in
the County Jail of the County of Los Angeles, California, as the
committing magistrate may determine, for a period not exceeding
ninety (90) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment in the
discretion of the court.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the satire
to be published by one insertion in the E1 Segundo Herald, a
weekly newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and
circulated within the said City and hereby designated for that
purpose.
SECTION 5. That this ordinance shall take effect and
be in full force and virtue thirty (30) days from and after the
date of the final passage and adoption thereof.
