ORDINANCE NO. 210
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY
NECESSARY TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION UPON
THE TAXABLE PROPERTY THEREIN AS A REVENUE
TO CARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS
(INCLUDING THE EL SEGUNDO PUBLIC LIBRARY),
AND PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF SAID
CITY FOR THE CURRENT YEAR, 1937 -1938.
The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That the amount of money necessary
to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property in
the City of E1 Segundo, California, as a revenue to carry
on the various departments (including the E1 Segundo Public

Library) of said municipal corporation for the current
fiscal year 1937 -1938, and to pay the bonded and other
indebtedness of said City of E1 Segundo, California, and
necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable land
of that certain municipal improvement district therein,
hereinafter referred to, is hereby, for the respective
items or purposes above and hereinafter referred to,
fixed as follows, to -wit:
1. For carrying on the various depart-
ments (including the E1 Segundo
Public Library) of said City,
the sum of $96,572.00
2.- For paying the bonded indebtedness $30 737.48
of said City, the sum of ......... ,
3. For paying the bonded indebtedness
of Act of 1927 Municipal Improve-
ment District No. 1 of the City of
E1 Segundo, the sum of 5,231.07
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify
to the passage and adoption of this ordinance, and shall

of E1 Segundo, California, do hereby certify that the
whole number of members of the City Council of the said
City is five; that the foregoing ordinance, being
Ordinance No. 210, was duly passed and adopted by the
said City Council, approved and signed by the Mayor of
said City and attested by the City Clerk of said City,
all at a regular meeting of the said Council held on
the 25th day of August, A. D., 1937, and that the same
was so passed and adopted by the following vote:

cause the same to be published once in the E1 Segundo
Herald, a weekly newspaper printed, published and cir-
culated in the City of E1 Segundo, which is hereby
designated for that purpose.
SECTION 3. This ordinance, being an ordinance
required under the provisions of an Act of the Legislature
of the State of California, entitled, "An Act to Provide
for the Levy and Collection of Taxes by and for the Use
of Municipal Corporations and Cities Incorporated under
the Laws of the State.of California, except Municipal
Corporations of the First Class, and to Provide for the
Consolidation and Abolition of Certain Municipal Offices,
and to Provide that their Duties may be Performed by
Certain Officers of the County, and Fixing the Compensa-
tion to be Allowed for such County Officers for the
Services so Rendered to such Municipal Corporation,"
approved March 27, 1895, as amended to date, to go into
effect prior to the 31st day of August, 1937; and also
being an ordinance for the immediate preservation of the
public peace, health and safety of seal City in this,
that it is urgently needed to make proper provision for
municipal revenues without which the City could not
function, the same shall, therefore, take effect and
be in full force immediately upon the passage and
adoption thereof.
Passed, approved and adopted this 25th day of
August, A. D., 1937.

which was duly passed and adopted by the said City Council,
approved and signed by the Mayor of said City, and attested
by the City Clerk of said City, all at a regular meeting of
the said Council held on the 25th day of August, 1937s and
that the same was so passed and adopted by the following
vote:
Ayes: Councilmen Gerow, Hesser, Love and Mayor Binder.

I do hereby further certify that pursuant to
the provisions of Section 878 of Act 5233 of the General
Laws of the State of California, (Deering 1923 Ed.ision),
as amended to date, that the foregoing ordinance No. 210
was duly and regularly published according to law and the
order of the City Council of said City in the E1 Segundo
Herald, a weekly newspaper of general circulation printed,
published and circulated within the said City and that the
same was so published therein on the following date, to -wit:
