ORDINANCE N0. 209 .
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA,, REGULATING THE TRANSPORTATION
OF GARBAGE, RUBBISH, REFUSE, MANURE, OFFAL,
SEWAGE SCREENINGS OR OTHER OFFENSIVE OR
NAUSEOUS SUBSTANCES IN, UPON OR ALONG THE
PUBLIC STREETS, ROADS, LANES, AVENUES,
ALLEYS, WAYS OR PLACES WITHIN SAID CITY.
The City Council of the City of El Segundo,
California, does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That it shall. be unlawful for any
person, firm or corporation to remove, transport or convey,
or to cause or permit to be removed, transported or conveyed,

in, upon or along any public street, road, lane, avenue,
alley, way or place within said City, any garbage, combustible
rubbish, seam - combustible rubbish, or any non - combustible
rubbish, as said terms are defined in Ordinance No. 90 of
said City, adopted on the 2nd day of January, 1923, entitled:
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, REGULATING THE COLLECTION AND
DISPOSAL OF GARBAGE AND RUBBISH AND THE
ACCUMULATION OF MANURE WITHIN SAID CITY;
PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION
THEREOF, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND
1 PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. ",
as amended, or any refuse, manure, offal, sewage screenings,
or other offensive or nauseous substances without first apply-
ing for and obtaining a permit in writing so to do from the
Chief of Police of said City, or his duly authorized representa-
tive; provided, however, that the provisions of this ordinance
shall not apply to any person, firm or corporation with whom the
City of El Segundo has at the time an existing contract for the
removal, disposal and /or conveyance of any such materials or
substances, or to any bona fide employee of such contractor,

or to any employee of the City of E1 Segundo performing
his duties as such employee of said City of El Segundo.
SECTION 2. That any person, firm or corporation
violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof
shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $300.00, or
by imprisonment in the City Jail of the City of E1 Segundo,
California., or in the County Jail of the County of Los Angeles,
California, for a period of not more than three months, or
by both such fine and imprisonment as the committing
magistrate may direct.
Each such person, firm or corporation shall be
deemed guilty of a separate offense for every day during
any portion of Which any violation of any provision of this
ordinance is committed, continued or permitted by such
person, firm or corporation, and shall be punished therefor
as provided by this ordinance.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this ordinance; shall cause the
same to be published once in The E1 Segundo Herald, a weekly
newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and
circulated within the said City of E1 Segundo, and which is
hereby designated for that purpose.
SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall - become effec-
tive thirty days from and after the date of the final passage
and adoption thereof.
