ORDINANCE NO. 206
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, MAKING CERTAIN REGULATIONS
WITH REFERENCE TO THE KEEPING OF SWINE
WITHIN SAID CITY.
The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That the public interest, health and
safety require the regulation of the keeping of swine within
the City of E1 Segundo, California.
SECTION 2. That it shall be unlawful for any person,
firm or corporation to keep, maintain, harbor or sustain in or
upon any premises within the City of E1 Segundo, any swine,
whether one or more, without a written permit from the City
Council of said City so to do first had and obtained. Any
person, firm or corporation desiring such a permit shall, make
written application therefor to said Council, stating the name
and address of such applicant, the location where such swine
are proposed to be kept, the manner in which same are proposed
to be kept, and the maximum number which it is proposed shall.
be kept in or upon any premises at any time under such permit
so applied for. Said City Council upon receiving any such appli-
cation shall consider the same and may either grant or refuse
to grant such permit; provided, however, that no such permit
will be granted for the keeping of more than ten swine under
any single permit, nor for the keeping of any swine within .250
feet of any house, building, tent or structure occupied by
human beings. In the event any such permit is granted the City
Council may impose such other and additional terms, conditions
and requirements in connection with the same as the said Council
may at the time, all matters and circumstances consi"red, deem
necessary in order to preserve the public interest, health and
safety.

SECTION 3. That any person, firm or corporation
violating any of the provisions of this ordinance, shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof
shall be punished by a fine of not more than Three Hundred
Dollars ($300.00), or by imprisonment in the County Jail of
the County of Los Angeles, or in the City Jail of the City
of E1 Segundo, as the committing magistrate may direct, for
not more than three months, or by both such fine and imprison-
ment in the discretion of the court. Every such person, firm
or corporation shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense
for each and every day during which any of the provisions of
this ordinance are violated, and shall be punishable there-
for as herein provided.
SECTION 4. Nothing in this ordinance contained
shall be construed as amending, altering or repealing any
of the provisions of Ordinance No. 155 of the City of
El Segundo, entitled:
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, CREATING A CERTAIN RESIDENCE
DISTRICT IN AND FOR SAID CITY AND MAKING
CERTAIN REGULATIONS WITH REFERENCE TO THE
KEEPING OF LIVESTOCK THEREIN. ",
as amended to date, passed, approved and adopted on the
25th day of January, A. D., 1929,•the provisions of which
last mentioned ordinance as amended or as hereinafter amended,
shall be enforced in addition to the provisions of this
ordinance.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this ordinance, and shall cause
the same to be published by one insertion in the E1 Segundo
Herald, a weekly newspaper of general circulation printed,
published and circulated within the said City of E1 Segundo,
and which is hereby designated for that purpose.
SECTION 6. That this ordinance shall take affect
and be in fu111 force and virtue thirty (30) days from and
after the data of the final passage and adoption thereof.
