ORDINANCE NO. 203 •
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SE GUND 0,
CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY
NECESSARY TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION UPON
THE TAXABLE PROPERTY THEREIN AS A REVENUE
TO CARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS (IN-
CLUDING THE EL SEGUNDO PUBLIC LIBRARY),
AND PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF SAID
CITY FOR THE CURRENT YEAR, 1936 -1937.
The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1• That the amount of money necessary
I to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property in the
City of El Segundo, California, as a revenue to carry on
the various departments (including the El Segundo Public
Library) of said municipal corporation for the current
fiscal year 1936 -1937, and to pair the bonded and other
indebtedness of said City of E1 Segundo, California, and
necessary to be raised by taxation upon the taxable land
of that certain municipal improvement district therein,
hereinafter referred to, is hereby, for the respective

items or purposes abo ve and hereinafter referred to, f ixed
il as follows, to-wit:
1. For carrying on the various depart-
ments (including the El Segundo
Public Library) of said City,
the sum of ...................... $ 89, 485.57
2. For paying the bonded indebtedness
of said City, the sum of ........ $ 28, 495.70
3. For paying the bonded indebtedness
of Act of 1927 Municipal Improve-
ment District No. 1 of the City
of El Segundo, the sun of ....... 6,703.72

SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify
to the passage and adoption of this ordinance, end shall
oemse the same to be published once in the El Segundo
Herald, a weekly newspaper printed, published and cirou-
lated in the City of El Segundo, which is hereby designated
for that purpose.
SECTION 3. This o rdiname, being an ordinance
required under the provisions of an Act of the Legislature
of the State of California, entitled, "An Act to Provide
for the Levy and Collection of Taxes by and for the Use
of Municipal Corporations and Cities Incorporated under
the Laws of the State of California, except Municipal
Corporations of the First Class, and to Provide for the
Consolidation and Abolition of Certain Mnicipal Offices,
and to Provide that their Duties may be Performed by
Certain Officers of the County, and Fixing the Compensa-
tion to be Allowed for such County Officers for the
Services so Rendered to such Municipal Corporation,"
approved March 273, 1895, as amended to date, to go into
effect prior to the 25th day of August, 1936; and also
being an ordinance for the immediate preservation of the
public peace, health and safety of said City in this,
that it is urgently needed to mane proper provision for
municipal revenues without which the City could not
function, the same shall, therefore,, take effect and be
in full force immediately upon the passage and adoption
there of .
Passed, approved and adopted this 19th day of
August, A. D., 1936.

the said Council held on the 19th day of August, 1936, and
that the sane was so passed and adopted by the following

Noes: Councilmen None
Absent: Councilmen Gerow and Selby
I do hereby further certify that pursuant to the
provisions of Section 878 of Act 5233 of the General Laws
of the State of California, (Deering 1923 Edition), as
amended to date, that the foregoing ordinance No. 203 was
duly and regularly published according to law and the order
of the City Council of said City in the El Segundo Herald,
a weekly newspaper of general circulation printed, published
and circulated within the said City and that the same was
so published therein on the - following date, to -wit: -
