ORDINANCE 198a 4� r1 I'• ORDINANCE NO. 198 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, 9NEND 3NG ORDINANCE NO. 122 OF SAID CITY, ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, REGULATING THE DRILLING, MAINTENANCE AND CONSTRLOTION OF OIL AND GAS WELLS THEREIN; DECLARING OIL AND GAS WELLS WITHIN CERTAIN DISTRICTS WITHIN SAID CITY TO BE NUISANCES, AND MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO DRILL, MAINTAIN OR OPERATE OIL OR GAS ViiELLS WITHIN SUCH SPECIFIED DISTRICTS; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS THEREOF; AND REPEALING ALL ORDI- NANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH." BY ARENDING SECTION 3 THEREOF. The City Council of the City of El Segundo, Calif om,i s, does ordain as follows: i 1$4 SECTION 1. That Ordiname No. 122 of the City of El Segundo, California, entitled: "AN ORDINANCB OF THE CITY OF EL SBGUND09 CALIFORNIA, REGULATING THE DRILLING, MAIN- TENANCE AND C ON STR ID T ION OF OIL AND GAS WELLS THEREIN; DECLARING OIL AND GAS WELLS WITHIN CERTAIN DISTRICTS WITHIN SAID CITY TO BE NUISANCES, AND MAKING IT UNLAWFM TO DRILL, MAINTAIN OR OPERATE OIL OR GAS WELLS WITHIN SUCH SPECIFIED DISTRICT$; PROVIDING PENALTIES, FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS THEREOF ;AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH." passed and adopted on the 15th day of Jamiary, A. D., 19269 be, and the same is hereby amended by amending Section 3 thereof, so as to read as follows: "SECTION 3. That it shall be unlawful for any person, fine or corporation, whether as principal, agent or otherwise, to drill, bore or otherwise sink or dig, any oil or gas well, or oil or gas wells, or to oommence, carry on or prosecute the erection of 1- 1 ,345 any derrick or derricks, or otter structures for, or for use in connection with, any such well or wells, in avy portion of the City of E1 Segando, California, outside of the residence districts here - inabove in Section 2 of thin ordinance described, without a permit from the City Council of said City S o to do, fire t had and obtained. Application to drill, bore or otherwise sink or bore arW such well or wells, and to erect and maintain the usual ant necessary struoturss in connection therewith, shall be made to said Council in writing by the applicant for such permit, stating the name of applicant, the definite location of the proposed well and appurtenant st =atures, the puxpo se for which the same is to be drilled, bored or otherwise sunk or dug, and a state- ment that if such permit is granted, said well will be drilled, bored or otherwise sunk or dug at the looa- t ion sho vm in said application and that the permit for same, contemplated hereunder, if granted by said Council, may contain a provision as a condition thereof that said well will be located at the place so desig- nated and that otherwise said permit shall lapse and become and ramain void. All permits issued hereunder shall be upon direction of said City Council issued by the City Clerk of said City, who shall attend to all details in oon- nection with the presentation of such applications to the City Council, and the issuing of the permits granted by said Council." SECTION 2. That said ordinance No. 122 of the City of El Segundo, Cali form a, be, am d. the same is hereby amended as hereinabove set forth. 2- 1346 SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and virtue thirty (30) days from and after the final passage and adoption thereof. SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall came the same to be published once in the E1 Segundo Herald, weekly newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated in the said City of El Segun lo, and which in hereby designated for that purpose.
