ORDINANCE NO. 196
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY
NECESSARY TO BE RAISED BY TAXATION UPON
THE TAXABLE PROPERTY THEREIN AS A REVENUE
TO CARRY ON THE VARIOUS DEPARTMEUTS
( INCLUDING THE EL SEGUNDO PUBLIC LIBRARY),
AND PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF SAID
CITY FOR THE CURRENT YEAR, 1935 -1936.
The City Counoil of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That the amount od money neoes nary
to be raised by taxation upon the taxable property in the
City of E1 Segundo, California, as a revenue to carry on

the various departments (including the E1 Segundo Publio
Library) of said municipal eorpo ration f or the current fisoan
year 1935 -1936, and to pay the bonded and other indebtedness
of said City of E1 Segundo, California, and neoessary to be
raised by taxation upon the taxable land of that certain
muniaipal improvement district therein, hereinafter referred
to, la hereby, for the respective items or purposes above
and hereinafter referred to, fixed as follows, to-wit:
1. For oarrying on the various depart-
ments ( inoluding the El Segundo
Public Library), of said City
the sun o f - - - - - - - - - - $ 101, 047.69
2. For paying the bonded indebtedness
of said City the sum of- - - - $ 33,740.00
3. Fo r paying the bonded indebtedness
of Act of 1927 Munioipal Im-
provement District No. 1 of the
City of El Segundo, the sum of 8,020.00
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this ordinance, and shall osase
the same to be published once in the El Sagunto Herald, a
weekly newspaper printed, published and circulated in the
City of E1 Segundo, which is hereby designated for that pur-
pose.
SECTION 3• This ordinance, being an ordinanas re-
quired under the provisions o f an Act of tie Legislature of
the State of California, entitled, "An Act to Provide for the
Le vy and C of le o t ion o f Taxes by and f or t he Use o f Muni a ip al
Corporations and Cities Incorporated under the Laws of ttke
State of California, except Municipal Corporations of the
First Class, and to Provide for the Consolidation and Abolition
of Certain Munimipal Offices, amd to Provide that their Duties
may be Performed by Certain Officers of the County, ant Fixing
the Compensation to be Allowed for such County Officers for
the Services so Rendered to such Municipal Corporation,"
approved March 27, 1895, as amended to date, to go into effect
prior to the 27th day of August, 1935; and also being an
ordinance for the immediate preservation of the publics peace,
health m d safety of said City, in this, th-:at it is urgently
needed to make proper provision for municipal revenues without
which the City could not function, the same shall, therefore,
take effect and be in full f oroe immediately upon the passage
and adoption thereof-
