ORDINANCE 183ORDINANCE NO. 183« AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY CF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 83 OF Pro-- SAID CITY, ENTITLED: 'AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIAWIA, REGULATING i ( ELEC TRI CAL BUSINESS, THE INSTALLATION, ARRANGEMENTS, ALTERATION, REPAIR, USE, MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF ELECTRIC WIRING, ELECTRIC FIXTURES AND OTHER ELECTRIC APPLIANCES AND EQUIPMENT IN THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO; PROVIDING FOR ELECTRIC PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS AND FIXING THE FEES TEEREFOR; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR TEE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE,' BY ADDING A NEW SECTION THERETO TO BE KNOWN AND DESIGNATED AS SECTION 44 1/2. The City Council of tha City of E1 Segundo, Cali- fornia, do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 83 of tie City of El Segundo, California, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE OF TEE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, REGULATING ELECTRICAL BUSINESS, TIE INSTALLATION, ARRANGEMENTS, ALTERATION, REPAIR, USE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF ELECTRIC WIRING, ELECTRIC FIXTURES AND OTHER ELECTRIC APPLIANCES AND EQUIPMENT IN THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO; PROVIDING FOR ELECTRIC IERMITS AND INSPECTI ®NS AND FIXING TEE FEES THEREFOR; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE, VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE," passed and adopted on the 4th day of January, 1922, shall be and the same is hereby amended by the addition of a new section thereto to be known and designated as Section 44 1/2, and which said Section 44 1/2 shall read as follows, to-wit: 1- Y i "SECTION 44 1/2. If the Electrical Inspector shall find at any time hereafter any electric wiring, electrical system, electric fixture, electric installation, electric equipment or other electric apparatus or electrical device, or electric appliance in or about any building in the City of El Segundo, California, or in may place in said city, to be in a condition dangerous to life or property, or which might cause injury to persons or property in the -�- event electrical current were used in or about the same, he . shall notify the owner, tenant or occupant of the building or premises. in or about which such electric wiring, electrical system, electric fixture.- electric installation, electric equipment or other electric apparatus. or electrical device., or electric appliance" is located,' to have the dangerous conditions eliminated immediately and to have the defects repaired immediately, and to refrain from using electricity in or by means of any such electric wiring, electrical system, electric fixture, electric installation, electric equipment or other electric apparatus or. electrical device., or electric appliance, until the same has been repaired and rendered safe. The Electrical Inspector shall have the right and power to cause the supply or current of electricity to be shut off until r the necessary repair$ or correotions'have been made. The Electrical Inspector shall give written notice to ..-._ the person, fim or corporation supplying electricity or electrical current. to any such dm gerous or defective e3actric wiring, electrical system, electric fixture, electric installation, electric equipment or other if electric apparatus or electrical device, or ele etric 2- z i appliance to cease the supply or furnishing of current of such electricity until the necessary repairs have been made, and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to furnish electricity or eleotri- cal current for use in or by means of any defective electric wiring, electrical system, electric fixture, electric installation, electric equipment or other electric apparatus or ele etrical device, or electric appliance after receiving such notice, until such necessary repairs have been made. Before making any connections. to supply electricity or electrical current to any building that has not already been supplied with same, prior to the taking effect of this section of this ordinance, the person, firm or corpora- tion about to furnish such electricity or electrical current thereto shall ascertain whether a certificate of inspection has been issued for the electric wiring, electrical system, electric fixture., electric installa- tion, electric equipment. or other electric apparatus or electrical device, or electric appliance to be supplied, and for that purpose may demand the production, and exhibition of such certificate by the owner, tenant or occupant of the building or premises in which such electric wiring, electrical system, electric fixture, electric installation, electric equipment or other electric apparatus or electrical device, or electric appliance. is located before supplying electricity or electrical current therefor or thereto." SECTION 2. That said Ordinance No. 83 is hereby amended as hereinabove in Section 1 of this ordinance set f rth. 3- 1!237 SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to t!u passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the E1 Segundo Herald, a weekly newspaper of general circulation, printed, published and circulated within the said City of El Segundo, Califor- nia, and which is hereby designated for that purpose. • This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and virtue thirty days from and after the final Passage and adoption thereof.
