AN ORDINANCE OF TEE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, FIXING ARID ESTABLISHING
CERTAIN SET BRCS LINES . ALONG CERTAIN
PORTIONS OF THE SOMBERLY LINE OF
IMEE RIAL HIGHWAY WITHIN TEE SAID CITY.
The City Council of the City of Sl Segundo,
Cali fo mia, do ordain as follows:
--- SECTION 1. That the public pease, health,
safety, comfort, convenience, interest and welfare of
the City of Bl Segundo, California, require, and it is
hereby ordered and ordained by the City Council of said
City, after evidence received and considered upon the
sub jeot, that the minimum distances back from the
southerly street line of Imperial Highway ( formerly
Collingwood Street) for the erection of buildings or
stmotures along the respective portions of the
i--_ southerly site of Imperial Highway hereinafter re-
ferred to, shall be and the same are hereby fired and
established for such respective portions, as follows,
to -wit:
(1) On the southerly side of said Imperial
Highway, between the westerly line of Lot 8,
Block 14 Tract No. 16859 as per map of said
tract recorded in Book 21, at Page 98 of Maps,
Records of Los Angeles Qounty, California, on
file in the office of the County Recorder of
said County (said westerly line of said Lot 8
being also the westerly City boundary line of
the City of El Segundo, California) and the

-- westerly line of Loma Vista Street, formerly
known as Bonita Vista lieime . , as shown upon
said map of said Pratt No. 1685, recorded as
aforesaid, such minimum distance shall be 20
. feet southerly, measured at right angles, from
the southerly line of said Imperial Highway,
and the set back line, which Shan be known as
such for said portion of said highway, is
accordingly fixed at said distance of 20 feet,
- measured as aforesaid.
(2) On the s outher],y side of said
-° Imperial Highway, between the westerly line of
Lot 6, Block 106, and the westerly line of
Sheldon street,_as shown on El Segundo Sheet
No. 3, recorded in Book 20, at Pages 22 and 23
of Mapa, Records of Los Angeles County, Cali -
fornia, on file in the office of the County
Recorder of said County, such minimum distance
shall be 20 feet southerly, measured at right
angles, from the southerly line of Imperial
Highway, and the set back line, which shall be
known as such, for said portion of said highway,
is aewrdingly fixed at said distame of 20
feet, measured as aforesaid.
(3) On the southerly side of said
Imperial Highway, between the westerly line of
_ Lot 1 and the easterly line of Lot 1, as shorn
upon Map of J. H. Fisher's Subdivision,. recorded
in Book 22, Page 87 of Miscellaneous Records,
Records of Los Angeles County, California, on

file in the office of the County Recorder of
said County, such minimum distance shall be
20 feet southerly, measured at right angles
---- from the southerly line of Imperial Highway,
and the set back line, vhioh shall be known
as such, for said portion of said highway, is
accordingly fixed at said distanoe of 20 feet,
measured as aforesaid.
(4) On the southerly side of said
Imperial Highway, between the westerly line of
Lot 16 and the easterly line of Lot 1, as shown
upon Map of C. C. Hunt's Subdivision,, as per
map recorded in Book 36, Page 36 of Miscellaneous
Records, Los Angeles County, California, on file
in the office of the County Recorder of said
County, such minimum distance shall be 20 feet
southerly, measured at right angles, from the
southerly line of said Imperial Highway, and the

(5) On the southerly side of said Imperial
Highway, between the westerly line and the east-
erly line of Section fi, Township 3 South, Range
14 Hest, San Bernardino Base and Meridian, such
minimum distanoe back from the southerly street
line of said portion of said Imperial -Highway
(which said southerly street line is a line 30,
feet southerly, measured at right angles, from,

Section ?), shell be 20 feet southerly of and
measured at right angles from the said southerly
street line of said portion of said Imperial
Highway, and the set back line, which shall be
known as such, for said portion of said highway,

SECTION 2. lo building, wall, (except retaining
walls) fence or other structure shall be erected or con-
struoted, or moved upon any property or premises between
the set back lineshersinabowe in Section 1 of this ordinance
established and the street line of Imperial Highway in
front of such premises or property, and it shall be un-
lawful for any person, firm or corporation to construct,
move upon or erect, or to begin, or engage in the con-
struction, moving or erection of any building, wall,
fence or otther structure, on any premises or property
between said set back lines so established and the street
line of Imperial Highway in front of such premises or
property.
SECTION 8. That any ps reon, firm or oo rpo ra-
tion violating any of the provisions of this ordinance,
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon con -
viotion thereof shall be punished by a fine of not to
exceed $300.00 or by imprisonment in the City Jail of
the City of El 3egnndo, or in the County Jail of the
County of Los Angeles, California, as the committing
magistrate may determine, for a period not exceeding
ninety (90) days, or by both such fine said imprisa meat

SECTION 4. That this ordinance is an
ordinance urgently required in order to protect the
public peace, health and safety of said City, and
therefore the same shall take effect and be in fall
force and virtue immediately upon the final passage
and adoption thereof. The facts constituting its
urgency are as follows:
Proceedings for the proposed improvement
of said Imperial Highway are now in process and
various omers of property and interested persons
along said thoroughfare are desirous that this
o rdinanc:e be ado p tsd immediately, so as to pre vent
the threatened encroachment of structures nearer to
the above mentioned portions of said Imperial Highway
than the not back lines hereinabove indicated, thereby
promoting safety in the use of said highway. Also
certain ovaers of property, tho are disposed to
dedicate for public street purposes certain strips
of land approximately EO feet in width on the northerly
side of said Imperial Highway, which is in the City of
Los Angeles, desire that such set back lines be created
so that they may feel more justified in dedicating 20
feet upon the northerly side of a portion of said street
for public street purposes, thereby subserving the
public interest of both said City of El Segundo and
said City of Los Angeles, said Imperial Highway being
a boundary line street.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify
to the passage and adoption of this o rdinanae amid shall
cause the same to be published once in the E1 Segundo
Herat&, a weekly newspaper printed, published and

circulated in said Gity of El Segundo, and hereby
designated for that purpose.
