ORDINANCE NO. 153.
AN ORDINANCE Or HG CITY OF EL S E * TD0,
CALIFO NIns, AENDING ORDINANCE 110. 12 OF
SAID CITY rE..NTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, LICENSING AND REGULAT-
ING CERTAIN KINDS OF BUSINESS TRANSACTED
AND CARRIED ON IN SAID CITY AND FIXING A
PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF ", BY
AMENDING SECTION 5 THEREOF.
The City Council of the City of El Segundo,
Cali fo mia, do ordain rya follows:
SECTION 1. That Section 5 of Ordinance No. 12
of the City of E1 Segundo, Califomia, entitled:
"An Ordinmwe of the City of El Segundo,
Licensing and Regulating Oertain Kinds
of Business Transacted and Carried on in
said City and Fixing a Penalty for Viola-
tion thereof"
shall be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as
follows:
"SECTION 5. The monthly licenses in this
ordinance provided for, shall be due and payable
to the city on the first of each month, in advance,
from all persons who have for the previous month
been licensed to carry on the same trade, calling,
profession or occupation, and from all persons who
have not been previously licensed for the same trade,
calling, profession or occupation, the license shall

be due and payable, and must be procured �y such
persons before commencing to carry on such trade,
calling, profession or occupation.
The quarterly licenses in this ordinance pro- \�
vided for, shall be due and payable to the City on
the first days of January, April, July and October,
and all such licenses shall expire with the last days

of 11arch, dune, September and December of each
year, but the first quarterly license issued to
any person, as therein provided, shall be issued
for the unexpired portion of such quarter, and
a proportionate amount shall be charged for the
same for such unexpired portion of such quarter.
The weekly licenses in this ordinance provided
for, shall be due and payable to the city on the.
Monday of each week in advance.
The daily licenses in this ordinance provided
f or, shall be due and payable to the city each day.
in advance.
A penalty of 100Io of the amount of such,
license shall be added to each license-which shall
remain unpaid at the expiration of fifteen (15) days.
from and after the date upon which such license, be-
comes due, and upon receiving such delinquent
licenses with such penalty added from the Jity Clerk,
it shall thereupon be the duty of the Chief of Polio*
(formerly City Marshal) to collect such licensee
and penalties in addition to the amount of license
fixed in this ordinance.
In determining the aelinquent date. of any license,
the day upon which the same actually becomes .due shall
be excluded from the computation and the 15th day
shall he included.
The penalty of 1000 of the amount of any such
license, shall not be deemed to be in lieu of, or in
satisfaction of, any other penalty which may be
provided in this ordinance for violation . of any
provision or provisions thereof."
SECTION 2. That said Ordinance No. 12 is hereby
ramended accordingly.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this ordinance and shall
cause the same to be published once in The El Segundo
Herald, a weekly newspaper printed, published and

circulated-in the City of E1 Segundo, which is hereby
designated for that purpose.

the provisions of Section 878 of Act 5233 of the General
Zags of the State of California, (Deering 1923 Edition),
that the ro regoing ordinance No. 153 was duly and
regularly published according to t1ie Taw and the order of
the city 3ouncil of said city in the El Segundo Herald, a
weekly newspaper of general circulation printed, published
and circulated within the said city and that the same was
