AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING ORDINANCL N0. 12 OF SAID CITY, PASSED AND
ADOPTED ON THE 14th DAY OF MARCH, 1917, BY ADDING
A NEW SECTION THERITO TO BE KNOWN AS SECTION 37 *6
The Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo do.
ordain as follows:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 12 of the City of El
Segundo, California, entitled: "An Ordinance of the
City of E1 Segundo licensing and regulating certain kinds
of business transacted and carried on in said City and
fixing a penalty for violation thereof," passed and
adopted on the 14th day of karoh, A.D. 19179 be and the
same is hereby amended by adding a new section thereto
to be known and designated as Section 37 *, and which will
read as follows:
"Section 37 *. Nothing in this Ordinance hereinbefore
contained shall be construed however as requiring any
person, firm or corporation conducting any business
subject to a monthly, quarterly, semi- annual or annual
license hereunder, the gross receipts of which are less
than the sum of Seventy -five Dollars ($75.00) per month,
to pay any license under this Ordinance, provided, however,
that any person, firm or corporation claiming the benefit
of the exemption provided in this section shall make
and deliver to the City Marshal for filing with the City
Clerk an affidavit, properly sworn to before an officer
authorized to administer oaths, stating and declaring
that the business for which said person, firm or corpor-
ation seeks such exemption has gross receipts of less
than Seventy -five Dollars (475.00) per month. A new

affidavit must be executed and filed in order to
keep such exemption in force at the end of each
monthly, quarterly, semi - annual or annual period for
which such exemption is hereby granted.
Upon the filing of the affidavit referred to in
this section the City Clerk shall issue a license
for the conducting of said business for the proper
period as provided in this Ordinance free of charge.
Any person, firm or corporation making or filing
or causing to be made or filed any affidavit pursuant
to the provisions of this section and containing any
false statement, false declaration or false representa-
tion of facts shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and
shall be subject to the same punishment provided for
other violations of this Ordinance set forth in Section
1 hereof."
Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause
the same to be published once in the $1 Segundo Herald,
a weekly newspaper of general circulation printed,
published and circula t6d within the City and hereby
designated for that purpose.
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in Hill
force and virtue thirty(30) days after the final
passage and adoption thereof.
Passed, approved and adopted this Sth day of
July A. D.9 1921.

foregoing ordinance, being Ordinance No. 80, was
passed and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the said

attested by the City Clerk, all at a regular meeting
of the said Board held on the 6th day of July A.D. ,
1921, and that the same was passed by the following
vote:
AYES: Trustees Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger.
NOES: None,
