AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO2
CALIFOENIA, ADdENDING ORDINANCE NO. 12 OF SAID
CITY, PASSED AND ADOPTED ON THE 14th DAY OF MARCH,
1917, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION THERETO, TO BE KNOW
AS SECTION 38j.
The Board of Trustees of the City of E1
Segundo do ordain as follows:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 12 of the
City of E1 Segundo , entitled "An Ordinance of the City
of El Segundo licensing and regulating certain kinds
of business transacted and carried on in said City,
and fixing a penalty for violation thereof ", passed
and adopted on the 14th day of March, 1917, be, and
the same is hereby, amended by adding a new section
thereto, to be known and designated as Section 38j,
and which will read as follows:
"38*. That notwithstanding any-
thing hereinbefore in this Ordinance
contained, every honorably discharged
soldier, sailor or marine of the United
States or Confederate States who has
served in the Civil War, any Indian
war, the Spanish - .American War, any
Philippine insurrection, the Chinese
Relief Expedition, or in the War with
Germany and Austria, who is physically
unable to obtain a livelihood by man-
ual labor, and who shall be a qualified
elector of the State of California, shall
have the right to distribute circulars,
and to hawk, peddle and vend any goods,
wares or merchandise except spiritous,
malt, vinous or other intoxicating

liquors, without payment of any license
tax or fee whatsoever, and the City Clerk
shall issue to such soldier, sailor or
marine without cost a license so to do."
Section 2, The City Clerk shall certify
to the passage of this ordinance, and shall cause the
same to be published by one insertion in the E1 Segundo
Herald, a weekly newspaper of general circulation print-
ed, published and circulated within the said City, and
which is hereby designated for that purpose.
This Ordinance shall take effect thirty days
after the final passage thereof.

foregoing Ordinance, being Ordinance No. 64 , was
passed by the Board of Trustees of said City, signed
by the President of said Board, and attested by the
City Clerk, all at a regular meeting of said Board
held on the 21; day of April , 1920, and that
the same was passed by the following vote.
AYES: TRUSTEES Binder, Bryson, Davis, Smiley and Rueger.
NOES: TRUSTEES None.
