ORDINANCE 320 ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDIN110E OF THE CITY OF EL SEixLIM0, CALIFOWTIA, REGliLxi IM G THE SALE OF BREAD AND FIXING THE STANDARD OF WEIGHTS lhEHEFOR. The Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to make or manufacture or to sell, expose or offer for sale or to cause or oermit to be made or manufactured or sold, exposed or offered for sale within the City of E1 Segundo, California, any bread unless such bread conforms to the standard of weights fixed by this ordinance except as herein other- wise provided. SECTION 2. All loaves of bread made or procured for the purpose of sale, sold, offered or exposed for sale within the said City of E1 Segundo shall weigh, unwrapped, twelve hours after baking, sixteen (16) ounces avoirdupois, except as hereinafter provided and such weight shall be the standard weight of a small loaf. Bread may also be made or procured for sale, sold, offered or exposed for sale, in twenty- -four (24) ounce loaves which weight shall be known as a standard large loaf. Twin loaves or multiple loaves may be baked pro- vided each unit of such twin or multiple loaf conforms to the standard weights as herein fixed. -1- r A tolerance is hereby fixed on the standard small loaf of one (1) ounce in excess and a tolerance on the standard large loaf of one and one -half (12) ounces in exce--s. There shall be no tolerance below these standard weights. All rolls made or procured for the purpose of sale, sold, offered or exposed for sale weighing from one to three ounces procured for the purpose of sale, posed for sale, shall weigh when hours after baking, less than one than three (3) ounces. shall be in units and no rolls made or sold, offered or ex- unwrapped twelve (12,) (1) ounce or more SECTION 3. The Sealer of Weights and Measures for the County of Los Angeles, California, and his deputies, are hereby authorized and empowered to enforce the provisions of this ordinance and for that purpose said Sealer of Weights and Measures and his deputies may enter any room or place where bread is manufactured or sold or offered or exposed for sale in the City of E1 Segundo and weight any bread found therein. SECTION 5. It shall be unlawful for any per.on to prevent or to attempt to prevent said Sealer of Weights and Measures or his de )uties from entering any such room -2- or place or to interfere in any manner with the said Sealer of weights and Measures or his deputies in the performance of his duties as provided by this ordinance. SECTION 6. Any person, firm or corporation viol- ating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine of not more than One Hundred (4100.00) Dollars or by imprisonment in the Jail of the County of Los hngeles for a period of not more than thirty (30) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the E1 Segundo Herald, a weekly news- paper printed, published and circulated within the City of El Segundo, which is hereby designated for that purpose and thereupon and thereafter the same shall take effect and be in full force and virtue.
