ORDINANCE NO. 3.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO ELECTING TO AVAIL ITSELF
OF CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF AN ACT OF THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE
OF CALIFORNIA ENTITLED: "AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE LEVY AND COLLEC-
TION OF TAXES BY AND FOR THE USE OF MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS AND
CITIES INCORPORATED UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
EXCEPT MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS OF THE FIRST CLASS, AND TO PROVIDE FOR
THE CONSOLIDATION AND ABOLITION OF CERTAIN MUNICIPAL OFFICES, AND
TO PROVIDE THAT THEIR DUTIES MAY BE PERFORMED BY CERTAIN OFFICERS
OF THE COUNTY, AND FIXING THE COMPENSATION TO BE ALLOWED FOR SUCH
COUNTY OFFICERS FOR THE SERVICES SO RENDERED TO SUCH MUNICIPAL
CORPORATIONS ", APPROVED MARCH 27th, 1895, AND ALL ACTS AMENDING THE
SAME.
The Board of Trustees of the City of El Segundo do ordain
as follows:
Section One.
That the Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo, a city of
the Sixth Class, deeming it for the best interests of said city, and
hereby determining that the public interest and necessity demand the
action herein taken, does hereby declare its election, and it does
hereby elect to avail itself of all of the provisions of an Act of
the Legislature of the State of California, entitled: "An Act to
provide for the levy and collection of taxes by and for the use of
municipal corporations and cities incorporated under the laws of the
State of California, except municipal corporations of the first class,
and to provide for the consolidation and abolition of certain munici-
pal offices, and to provide that their duties may be performed by
cert4in officers of the county, and fixing the compensation to be
allowed for such county officers for the services so rendered to such
municipal corporations", approved March 27th, 1895, and all acts of
the Legislature of the State of California amending the same, except
1� the provisions of Section 2 of said Act.
Section Two.

That all assessments for taxes in and for the City of E1
Segundo, California, shall be made hereafter, and all such taxes
collected, as contemplated in said Pict, by the Assessor and
Tax Collector respectively of the County of Los Angeles, State of
California, and the duties of assessing property and collecting
taxes, provided by law to be performed heretofore by the assessor
and tax collector of said city, shall hereafter be performed by
the assessor and tax collector, respectively, of said county, until
said City of E1 Segundo shall, by ordinance hereafter adopted, elect
not to avail itself of the provisions of said act for any longer
time.
Section Three.
The City Clerk shall file with the Auditor of the County of Los
Angeles, State of California, a duly certified copy of this ordinance
on or before the first Monday in the month of February, 1917.
The City Clerk shall further certify to the passage of this
ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the
E1 Segundo Herald, a weekly newspaper, printed, published and cir-
culated in said City of E1 Segundo, and hereby designated for that
purpose.
Section Four.
This ordinance is an ordinance for the immediate preservation
of the public peace, health and safety, and the facts constituting
its urgency are declared to be as follows: The City of E1 Segundo
has just been incorporated and it is imperative that the tax matters
of said city should be immediately adjusted in order to enable the
transaction of the official business of said city in a lawful manner;
for which reason this ordinance shall go into fall force ard effect
immediately upon its final passage
