AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO
REGULATING THE APPEARANCE OF MINORS ON
THE PUBLIC STREETS ArrD PLACES OF SAID
CITY AFTER 9 O'CLOCK P.M.
The Board of Trustees of the City of E1 Segundo
do ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That it is hereby made unlawful for
any child under the age of 18 years and not accompanied by
its parents or guardian or other person having legal cus-
tody and control of said child, to loiter, wander or stroll
about the public streets, avenues, alleys or any public park
or place in the City of E1 Segundo, California, between the
hour of 9 o'clock p.m. of any day and the time of sunrise
on the succeeding day.
SECTION 2. That it shall be unlawful for any
parent, guardian or other person having legal care and cus-
tody of any child under the age of 18 years, to allow or
permit any such child or ward to go upon or to be upon any
public street,avenue, alley or public park or place in the
City of E1 Segundo, unaccompanied by such parent, guardian
or other person having legal care and custody of such child,
between the hour of 9 o'clock p.m. of any day and the time
of sunrise on the succeeding day.
SECTION 3. The provisions of this ordinance
shall not be applicable to any such child who is in the per -
formanoe of an errand or duty directed by such parent or
guardian or other person having legal care and custody of
such child, nor to any such child whose employment makes it
necessary for such minor to be upon said streets, alleys,
avenues, or other public place during the times herein
specified.

SECTION 4. Any person violating any of the provi-
sions of this ordinance shall be guilty of

SECTION 5. Notice of the hour of 9 o'clock p.m.
shall be given at such hour by sounding one blast, which shall
continue for a period of at least one - quarter of a minute,
upon the call whistle of the Standard Oil Company in said city;
permission having been heretofore obtained from such company
therefor.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be pub-
lished once in the E1 Segundo Herald, a weekly newspaper
printed, published and circulated within the said city of E1
Segundo, and which is here by designated for that purpose.
SECTION 7. This ordinance is an ordinance for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety,
and the facteconstituting its urgency are as follows: The
City of E1 Segundo has just been incorporated, and it is in-
cumbent that the public streets and places within said city
should be regulated at once, for which reason this ordinance
shall take effect immediately upon the final passage thereof.
