CC RESOLUTION 4456RESOLUTION NO 4456 A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CITIZENS OPTION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY (COPS) PROGRAM. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the city of El Segundo as follows SECTION 1 The City Council finds as follows A Government Code §30061 established Supplemental Local Law Enforcement Funding (commonly referred to as the COPS program) for front line law enforcement B The County of Los Angeles established a Supplemental Law Enforcement Service Fund (SLESF) in accordance with Government Code §30061 to receive COPS funds which are allocated for use in Los Angeles County, C The City of El Segundo participates in the COPS Program and receives its share of any funds available for the purpose of ensuring public safety, D By Resolution No 3985, adopted October 1, 1996, the City established its own Supplemental Law Enforcement Service Fund (SLESF) in accordance with Government Code §30061, E The City Council conducted a public hearing on February 21, 2006, to considerfunding requests from the Chief of Police based on the documentation and testimonial evidence submitted at the public hearing, the City Council approved those requests as setforth on the record SECTION 2 The City Council directs that the City maintain its own Supplemental Law Enforcement Service Fund (SLESF) as required by Government Code §§ 30061 and 30063, SECTION 3 The City Council requests that the County of Los Angeles allocate the City's share of the funding to the City's SLESF for purposes of front -line law enforcement SECTION 4 The City Clerk is directed to certify the adoption of this Resolution, record this Resolution in the book of the City's original resolutions, and make a minute of the adoption of the Resolution in the City Council's records and the minutes of this meeting SECTION 5 This Resolution will become effective immediately upon adoption and will remain effective unless repealed or superseded SECTION 6 The City Clerk is directed to certify the adoption of this Resolution, record this Resolution in the book of the City's original resolutions, and make a minute of the adoption of the Resolution in the City Council's records and the minutes of this meeting SECTION 7 This Resolution will become effective immediately upon adoption and will remain effective unless repealed or superseded PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21" day of Kelly McDowell, Mayor STATE OF CALIFORNIA ) COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES ) SS CITY OF EL SEGUNDO ) I, Cindy Mortesen, City Clerk of the City of El Segundo, California, hereby certify that the whole number of members of the City Council of the City is five, that the foregoing Resolution No 4456 was duly passed and adopted by said City Council, approved and signed by the Mayor of said City, and attested to by the City Clerk of said City, all at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 2151 day of February, 2006, and the same was so passed and adopted by the following roll call vote AYES McDowell, Boulgarides, Busch, Jacobson NOES None ABSENT Gaines ABSTAIN None ATTEST ��� (;d ol/YVV� l �l Cindy Morte en, / City Clerk APPROVED A / Mark D Hen By Karl H Berger Assistant City At
