CC RESOLUTION 4376RESOLUTION NO. 4376 A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD APRIL 13, 2004. The City Council of the City of El Segundo does resolve as follows: SECTION 1: The City Council finds and declares as follows: A. A General Municipal Election was held in the City of El Segundo on Tuesday, April 13, 2004, as required by law; B. Notice of the election was given in the manner provided by law; C. Voting precincts were properly established, election officers were appointed, votes were cast, votes were received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in the time and manner required by the Elections Code for holding elections in general law cities; D. The City Clerk canvassed the returns of the election and certified the results to the City Council. These results are attached as Exhibit "A," received and incorporated by reference. SECTION 2: The whole number of ballots cast in the precincts, except absent voter ballots and provisional ballots, was 1,763. The number of absent voter ballots cast in the City was 1,346. The whole number of provisional ballots cast in the City was 123 making a total of 3,232 ballots cast in the City. SECTION 3: The names of persons voted for at the election for Members of the City Council are as follows: CITY COUNCIL Jim Boulgarides - 1,867 Eric Busch - 1,510 Carl Jacobson - 1,495 Bill Fisher - 1,453 Sandra Jacobs - 1,426 Nancy Wernick - 1,269 CITY TREASURER Ralph Lanphere 2,308 CITY CLERK Cindy Mortesen 2,298 SECTION 4: The number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of the persons named above for the respective offices for which the persons were candidates are as listed in attached Exhibit A. SECTION 5: The City Council declares and determines that Jim Boulgarides, Eric Busch and Carl Jacobson were elected as Members of the City Council for full terms of four years; Ralph Lanphere was elected as City Treasurer for a full term of four years; and Cindy Mortesen was elected as City Clerk for a full term of four years. SECTION 6: The City Clerk is directed to enter in the City's records a statement of the result of the election, showing: (1) the whole number of ballots cast in the City; (2) The names of the persons voted for; (3) The number of votes given at each precinct to each person; and (4) The total number of votes given to each person. SECTION 7: The City Clerk will immediately make and deliver to each of the persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by the City Clerk and authenticated; that the City Clerk will also administer to each person elected the Oath of Office prescribed in the Constitution of the State of California and will have them subscribe to it and file it in the office of the City Clerk. Each and all of the persons so elected will then be inducted into the respective office to which they have been elected. SECTION 8: The City Clerk will certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions. SECTION 9: This Resolution will become effective immediately upon adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 20th ly 004.
