CC RESOLUTION 4169RESOLUTION NO. 4169 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES TO CONSOLIDATE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 7, 2000, WITH THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THAT DATE PURSUANT TO SECTION 10403 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE Whereas, the City Council ( "City Council') of the City of E1 Segundo ( "City ") adopted its Resolution No. 4168 on July 18, 2000 calling a Special Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2000, for the purpose of submitting to the voters the question relating to the adoption of a special business license tax on parking lots; and Whereas, it is desirable that the Special Municipal Election with respect to the question relating to the adoption of a business license tax on parking lots be consolidated with the school election to be held on November 7, 2000, and that within the city the precincts, polling places and election officers of the two elections be the same, and that the county election department of the County of Los Angeles canvass the returns of the Special Municipal Election and the election be held in all respects as if there were one election; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section 10403 of the Elections Code, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles is hereby requested to consent and agree to the consolidate a Special Municipal Election with the School election on Tuesday, November 7, 2000, for the purpose of placing an initiative measure on the ballot. Section 2. That a measure is to appear on the ballot as follows: "Shall an Ordinance be adopted that replaces the current business license fee of YES $9 per year on shuttle service parking stalls with a special 10% tax on gross receipts on all parking, except employee parking, retail, hotel, restaurant, theater and validated parking for purposes of providing revenues for police and fire services and public road improvements." NO RESOLUTION NO. 4169 REQUEST COUNTY TO CONSOLIDATE A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION, NOV. 7, 2000 PAGE NO. 1 Section 3. That the county election department is authorized to canvass the returns of the Special Municipal Election. The election shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall be used. Section 4. That the Board of Supervisors is requested to issue instructions to the county election department to take any and all steps necessary for the holding of the consolidated election. Section 5. That the City of El Segundo recognizes that costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation and agrees to reimburse the County for all costs related thereto. Section 6. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this resolution with the Board of Supervisors and the county election department of the County of Los Angeles. Section 7. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution and enter it into the book of original Resolutions. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED on this 18th day of July, 2000.
