RESOLUTION NO. 3493
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE
FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION'S EMERGENCY
ORDER ON LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
AIRSPACE.
WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued an
emergency order effective August 19, 1987, imposing greater
restrictions on the unregulated airspace around Los Angeles
International Airport; and
WHEREAS, the FAA emergency order increased the ceiling of
the LAX Terminal Control Area from 7,000 feet to 12,500 feet and
eliminated the visual flight corridor along the coast; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of E1 Segundo seeks
to decrease community exposure to adverse health, safety, or
nuisance impacts, particularly as they relate to the Los Angeles
International Airport (LAX) situated immediately north of E1
Segundo.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO,
CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California supports the FAA's emergency order and its effort to
increase the level of safety within the LAX airspace.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo,
California, supports continued investigation of the unregulated
airspace around LAX and within the Terminal Control Area to
ensure the highest levels of safety for the communities
surrounding the Los Angeles International Airport.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book
of original resolutions of said city; and shall make a minute of
the passage and adoption thereof in the record of the proceedings
of the City Council of said city, in the minutes of the meeting
at which the same is passed and adopted.

California, DO HEREBY CERTIFY that the whole number of members of
the City Council of the said City is five; that the foregoing
resolution, being Resolution No. 3493 was duly passed and adopted
by the said City Council, approved and signed by the Mayor of
said City, and attested by the City Clerk of said City, all at a
regular meeting of the said Council held on the 1st day of
September, 1987, and that the same was so passed and adopted by
the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Anderson, Jacobson, Schuldt,
West, and Mayor Siadek
