CC RESOLUTION 3420RESOLUTION NO. 3420 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO SUPPORTING THE CENTURY -EL SEGUNDO EXTENSION RAIL TRANSIT PROJECT WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission has informed and consulted with representatives of the City of E1 Segundo, its employers and residents; and WHEREAS, the City of El Segundo will continue to develop as a regional employment center for aerospace, research and development, industry and commerce; and WHEREAS, the City of E1 Segundo has consistently recognized the need for alternative transportation systems to serve the employment center, to relieve traffic congestion, and to improve regional air quality; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City of E1 Segundo hereby supports the Century -E1 Segundo Extension Rail Transit Project. SECTION 2. The City of E1 Segundo supports selection of the Hawthorne Rail Yard Alternate Site as the environmentally and operationally superior alternative. SECTION 3. The City of E1 Segundo supports selection of the Hawthorne Rail Yard Route Length Option as necessary to serve the significant employment concentrations along Rosecrans Avenue and further south. SECTION 4. The City of El Segundo hereby supports selection of the Nash Street Aerial Option as the environmentally and operationally superior alternative. 1 SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution, shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the meeting at which Ithe same is passed and adopted. SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall forward a COPY of this Resolution to the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of September 1986. In light of potential cost savings, the City Council hereby supports continued study of the Nash Street At -Grade Option and requests that the LACTC work with the City to identify the adequate mitigation measures necessary for environmental clearance. SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution, shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the meeting at which Ithe same is passed and adopted.
