CC RESOLUTION 33631.4 ti R,3 RESOLUTION NO. 3363 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING AN ALLOCATION OF COUNTY AID TO CITIES FUNDS FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF ARTERIAL AND COLLECTOR STREETS. WHEREAS, the County of Los Angeles has appropriated certain monies to the City of E1 Segundo as County Aid to Cities; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to expend the amount of $25,891.00 of said funds accrued to the City for maintenance of arterial and collector streets within the City; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The County of Los Angeles is hereby requested to allocate $25,891.00 of the Aid to Cities funds apportioned to the City for the maintenance of arterial and collector streets (excluding State highways). SECTION 2. The City Clerk is directed to forward two certified copies of this resolution to the Los Angeles County Director of Public Works for processing. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original resolutions of said city; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said city, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted. WHEREAS, the California Vehicle Code requires, as a prerequisite to radar speed enforcement, that a traffic engineering speed zone survey be conducted at intervals not greater than five years, demonstrating that the speed limit is appropriately posted and that the jurisdictional agency is not maintaining a "speed trap "; and, WHEREAS, Sepulveda Boulevard within the City of E1 Segundo is a State Highway and, while the traffic control devices are installed and maintained by the California Department of Transportation, traffic enforcement is provided by the EZ'Segundo Police Department; and, WHEREAS, previously performed speed surveys are five years old and, accordingly, the courts will not sustain excessive speed citations until new speed zone surveys are adopted by the City; and, WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation has prepared speed zone surveys for Sepulveda Boulevard and has requested that the Council adopt the recommended speed limits; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of E1 Segundo approves the recommendations of the California Department of Transportation, by the adoption of this resolution, as follows: 1. The speed limit on Sepulveda Boulevard between E1 Segundo Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue will be 45 m.p.h., as is currently posted; and, 2. The speed limit on Sepulveda Boulevard between Imperial Highway and El Segundo Boulevard will be 40 m.p.h., as J:R- 012186.DOT 14EiRfi is currently posted. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original resolutions of said city; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the record of the proceedings of the City Council of said city, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted. .
