RESOLUTION NO. 3211
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTIONS
1A4.0103 1A4.0201 1A4.030, AND 1A4.145, OF;
AND ADDING SECTIONS 1A4.025 AND 1A4.142 T0,
CHAPTER 1A4 (FIRE SAFETY SERVICE SERIES),
OF TITLE IA OF THE EL SEGUNDO ADMINISTRATIVE
CODE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA,
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Sections 1A4.010, 1A4.020, 1A4.025, 1A4.030
and 1A4.145 of Chapter lA4 of Title IA of the E1 Segundo Administra-
tive Code are amended to read as follows:
SECTION 1A4.010 BASIC SALARY SCHEDULE - -PERS 2Z AT 50.
That except as hereinafter specifically provided and subject to the
other provisions of this resolution, each employee in the fire service
enumerated in this Chapter, other than those participating in the
Educational Incentive Pay Program who was employed before April 3, 1982
shall be entitled to receive for his or her services in his or her
position the applicable rate of compensation shown in the following
basic salary schedule prescribed for the class in which his or her
position is allocated, for the period commencing June 25, 1983, to wit:

SECTION 1A4.O2O EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE PAY SALARY
• SCHEDULES -PERS 2% AT 50 (A) Commencing June 25, 1983, uniformed
members of the fire service enumerated in this Chapter, who have
obtained a Fire Science Certificate or successfully completed 20 units
of college level courses in Fire Science who were employed before
April 3, 1982, shall upon completion of the initial probationary period
be compensated for their services at the grade and step to which they
are entitled by classification and length of service, in accordance
with the following salary schedule:

(B) Commencing June 25, 1983, uniformed members of the
fire service enumerated in this Chapter who were employed before
April 3, 1982 and who have obtained an Associate of Arts Degree with
at least 20 units in Fire Science shall, upon completion of three and
one -half years' service, be compensated for their services at the
grade and step to which they are entitled by classification and
length of service in accordance with the following salary schedule:

(C) Commencing June 25, 1983, uniformed members of the
fire service enumerated in this Chapter, who were employed before
April 3, 1982 and who have obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Public Ad-
ministration, Political Science, Chemistry or other major courses of
study approved by the Fire Chief and City Manager shall upon comple-
tion of seven years' service be compensated at the grade and step to
which they are entitled by classification and length of service in
accordance with the following salary schedule:
BACHELOR'S DEGREE (10 %) SALARY SCHEDULE
PERS 2% AT 50 FORMULA
SECTION 1A4.025 BASIC SALARY SCHEDULE - -PERS 2% AT 55.
That except as hereinafter specifically provided and subject to the
other provisions of this resolution, each employee in the fire service
enumerated in this Chapter, other than those participating in the
Educational Incentive Pay Program who was employed on or after
April 3, 1982 shall be entitled to receive for his or her services in
his or her position the applicable rate of compensation shown in the
following basic salary schedule prescribed for the class in which his
or her position is allocated, for the period commencing June 25, 1983,
to wit:

SECTION 1A4.145 INSURANCE BENEFITS- -DENTAL /MEDICAL.
Effective with the first payroll after July 1, 1983 from which medical
and dental insurance deductions are drawn, the following shall apply:
1. The City shall pay toward the premium of the City's
group dental insurance program, on behalf of each
employee enumerated in this Chapter who participates
in the program, the lesser of the following:
(a) The sum of $19.36 per month;
(b) The premium cost for the employee only.
In the event the premium cost for the employee only should be
less than $19.36 per month, the difference between the actual
premium cost and the sum of $19.36 shall be applied for each
such month to the payment of medical insurance premiums (as
set forth in subparagraph 2) for those employees enumerated in
this Chapter who participate in the City's group health and
medical insurance program.
2. The City shall pay toward the premium of the City's group
health and medical insurance program on behalf of each
employee enumerated in this Chapter who participates in the
program the sum of $139.42 per month (an increase of $12 per
month over the prior payment) together with any amount made
available for health and medical insurance pursuant to
subparagraph 1 hereof.
SECTION 2. All resolutions and orders of the City Council
heretofore passed and adopted with reference to the same, or any of
the matters and subjects hereinabove set forth or referred to, are
hereby rescinded insofar as the same conflict with the provisions
hereof.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of
original resolutions of said city; and shall make a minute of the
passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the
City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the
same is passed and adopted.
