A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING
THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN RECORDS IN THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, there is presented to this Council the fol-
lowing letter:

In accordance
with the provisions of Section 34090
of the Government
Code of the State of California,
I request
permission to destroy the following records:
POLICE DEPARTMENT RECORDS
Citizens
complaints against Police Department personnel
where the
complaint was filed prior to December 31,
1975.
POLICE RECORDS SECTION
1.
Parking citation copies, 1979 and older

Marijuana citations (11357(b)) citations
(mandated by State law), 1979 and older.

Moving citations, 1979 and older

29. Monthly statistical reports and copies
of arrest registers, 1970 and older.

30. Illegal alien, mental custody and misdemeanor
violations issued prior to December 31,
1979.
31. Arrests of any kind rejected by the District
Attorney or released by the Police Department
pursuant to Section 849 of the Penal
Code where the arrests rejected by the
District Attorney when the rejection
occurred prior to December 31, 1979,
and where arrestees released pursuant
to Section 849 of the Penal Code by the
Police Department the release occurred
prior to December 31, 1979.
32. Arrests prosecuted as a misdemeanor or
the final disposition occurred prior
to December 31, 1971.
The foregoing records are no longer required for
the operation of the Police Department, are not
records affecting the title of real property or
liens thereon, are not court records, are not required
to be kept by statute, are not less than two years
old, nor is any entry thereon less than two years
old, are not minutes, ordinances or resolutions
of the legislative body or of a city board or commission.

In accordance with the provisions of Section 34090
of the Government Code of the State of California,
the City Attorney hereby gives his written consent
to the destruction of the foregoing records.

WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the records here-
inabove referred to are of no further value to the City of El
Segundo, and that they occupy badly needed storage space; and
WHEREAS, the City Attorney has, in accordance with
the provisions of Section 34090 of the Government Code of the
State of California, consented to the destruction of said records
and documents;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL
SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Chief of Police is hereby authorized
and granted authority to dispose of the hereinabove described
and set forth records by causing the same to be destroyed in
a lawful manner.
SECTION 2. Upon destruction of the foregoing records,
the Chief of Police shall make a certificate of complete destruc-
tion of said records and file the original of the same in the
office of the City Clerk and file a copy of said certificate
together with a certified copy of this resolution in his /her
office.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and thenceforth and thereafter, the same shall
be in full force and effect.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 7th day of
