CC RESOLUTION 3054I ' '> > • RESOLUTION NO. 3054 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, ADDING SECTIONS 1A4.195 AND 1A4.196 TO CHAPTER 1A4 (FIRE SAFETY SERVICE SERIES) OF TITLE lA OF THE EL SEGUNDO ADMINISTRATIVE CODE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: • SECTION 1. Sections 1A4.195 and 1A4.196 are added to Chapter 1A4 of Title lA of the E1 Segundo Administrative Code adopted by Resolution No. 2620, as amended to read as follows: SECTION 1A4.195 UNIFORM AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT ALLOWANCE /EXCEPTION. The provisions of Section 1A4.190 shall not apply to employees hired after March 17, 1981. SECTION 1A4.196 UNIFORM AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT ALLOWANCE /NEWLY APPOINTED PERSONNEL. Fire fighting employees employed after March 17, 1981, shall be required to purchase and continuously maintain prescribed items of uniform clothing, personal equipment, and safety equipment, and shall be compensated for a portion of the initial and maintenance costs thereof, payable as follows: 1, At the time of employment newly appointed fire department personnel shall be advanced a uniform allowance equal to 150 percent of the annual uniform allowance. 2. Upon the first anniversary of appointment newly appointed fire department personnel shall receive payment of a uniform allow- ance of 50 percent of the annual uniform allowance. 3. At regular intervals thereafter newly appointed fire department personnel • shall receive payment of a uniform allow- ance prorated at the rate of one - twelfth of the annual uniform allowance per month; such intervals shall be no less frequent than three months. If newly appointed fire fighters or fire trainees satisfactorily complete a period of one year service 0 is following their appointment , said advance uniform payment shall be deemed a uniform allowance. However, if a fire fighter or fire trainee resigns during the first full year of employment, the employee upon termination shall reimburse the City on a pro rata basis, one- twelfth Of the advance payment heretofore made for each full month remaining until the first anniversary of the employee's appointment. The amount shall be deducted from any pay otherwise due the employee upon termination Of city employment and certification by the Fire Chief to the Director of Finance of the amount to be deducted pursuant to the provisions of this section. SECTION 2. All resolutions and orders of the City Council heretofore passed and adopted with reference to the same, or any of the matters and subjects hereinabove set .forth or referred to, are hereby rescinded insofar as the same conflict with the provisions hereof. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original resolutions of said city; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said city, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
